OK... There is a lot of great information on this and other forums regarding Icon in general and their boots in particular, but I still have some very specific questions. The Superduty 2 boots were my initial choice, but I'm considering the Motorhead depending on these answers. My dealer does deal with Icon but doesn't stock the boots, but I *can* have him get some in to try, within reasonsable limits.
On the Superduty model, it's hard to tell from the pics if it does or does not actually cover the ankle Can someone who has these give me that answer?
On the Motorhead, I was almost set on these before finding some pretty detailed descriptions of individual experiences. The specific thing that made me pause is a description of these boots as being so thick from bottom to top that it diminishes the "feel" of the shifter significantly, basically getting in the way of "agile" shifting. I know this is probably very subjective, but I'm interested in the impressions of any who have owned these boots for a while and can comment.
I have the Superduty boots and love them! :D Yes, the boots feel thick when you first try them on but after they were broken in it took no time (about 2 days) to get used to them. Now whenever I go for a ride where I am not suited up in full leathers (e.g. when I wear my textile suit) those are the boots I wear. Only two complaints.....DO NOT buy the white ones. They will discolor where the shifter makes contact with the boot and will make them look like crap. When getting out of the boots, lean slightly forward in them otherwise the buckles will not disengage properly.
Other than that, me likey my boots. :thumbsup: :wheel:
Hello....thought I would chime in on Icon. I have tryed and returned several Icon items (helmet...gloves) I havent owned there boots but do ride with one of their Textile jackets. My opinion is that the Icon gear is on the cheeper side of quality, maybe on par with joe rocket stuff. Its ok if you dont ask to much of it but I would never consider their gear for a track day. I like my jacket but feel like I am takeing a risk in being under protected. Money is money and I am saveing for better gear than Icon stuff.

I too own an ICON jacket and agree with your assessment. Most of ICON's stuff is fairly cheap and not really designed to take a big spill. The Motorhead boots though are about right for around town riding. I would not recommend them for a track day or a day riding the twisties but tooling around town doing errands or visiting friends.......they fit the bill.

[/quote] You know I was thinking that in all fairness I should back up a little bit. I shopped for cheep gear and thats what I got. Maybe there higher end stuff is just that. :wheel:
