Anyone tried the 3M helmet halo? If so how does it work......what I mean will it move with speed and come loose etc? I think its a great idea for night riding with the extra visabilty factor.

I bought one before we went to Birmingham last year and the thing wouldn't stay put.
Every gas stop I had to re-adjust it and once it popped off my helmet and wrapped around my neck.
It got pitched in the trash immediatly after that.
If you want a reflective strip find a self adhesive strip to stick on your helmet.

Halo ....NOT

Mine was coming down around my neck all of the time as well. I eventually started putting it up as high as I could and it stopped falling so I'm now happy with it.

Again thank you guys. You just saved me a few bucks on something that appears to be a great idea gone bad. I think I will use some other form of reflectivity! TY

As far as it coming off all the time, and wrapping around your neck; I used Hair Spray on mine; damn thing is stuck on my helmet now the way it should be - 24 * 7...

Please elaborate.
* Do you spray the helmet before application.
* Do you spray the halo after you've applied it.
* ...?

Thanks!

My apologies.... The Halo is an awesome product; I can vouch for that; since I work nights. Everyone has asked me what that "shinny thingy" is on my helmet; when they light me up with their cage headlights.

Anyway, to keep the Halo properly pasted on the bottom of your helmet; and to not have in come off in the airstream, and go around your neck; I cheated, ad applied an "adhesive" to the helmet - hair spray. I had to go to the store and buy a cheap bottle of it just for this purpose, though... dry.gif

So, what I did, was spray the bottom 2 inches around the helmet; wiping off the excess; position the Halo (very quickly due to the quick curing of the hairspray), and you're good to go. Sets like glue. You don't need to spray the Halo after application; and wipe off the excess that gets on top of the Halo on the shiny part; it leaves kind of weird marks. Reapply with hairspray edges that come off, when needed. Works like a charm... Hope this helps;

That's all too much work, I just picked up a black chrome KBC helmet, and everyone see's me, morning, day, or night.

Sorry, but I don't think a chrome helmet would be that visible against the urban background because, unless sunlight hits it at the right spot and twinkles/flashes the light to other driver's eyes, your helmet would just be reflecting the images and colors around you, giving it the similar effect as the alien warrior used to make himself invisible in the tropical forest in Arnold's movie "The Predator".
A fluorescent color that have reflectance built into it, like the Halo product, will be much more visible to other motorists.
I used to have a Halo on my helmet, till it eventually wore out and became too loose to stay on after years of use. Just been to lazy to get a replacement. Anyway, my helmets all have some bright colors on it that helps in the visibility department.

P.S. I'm not a trekkie sci-fi junky, by the way.
