I'm almost set with my plans for the Honda Hoot trip but the one problem I'm having is selecting Rain Gear. I know I want a two piece and most "good" rain suits are running between $50 an $100. Looking at Nelson Rigg, Tourmaster, etc.
Anyone have any of these? Need them to pack small for the trip and heard nylon is the way to go. I'm leaving my south florida home around 5am in mid June for this trip so I am willing to bet I'll hit rain somewhere (Hurricane Season goofy.gif )

I have the Nelson-Rigg AX-1 2-piece rainsuit. I wear the pants over my JR Ballistic 4.0 pants, and the jacket over either my JR Meteor 3.0 or JR mesh jacket. I can roll up the pants and jacket when I am not using them so that they will fit in my backpack (ala sleeping bag style). The suit does an excellent job keeping the rain out, and it seems sturdy enough to last many seasons. Rain won't get past the suit, but water can and will eventually find its way in from other areas: boots, gloves, neckline (maybe), helmet (maybe). The suit can be warm if it is real hot and/or muggy outside; however, I have used the suit to help keep warm on cold days.
I've used a Frogg Togg's suit for a couple of years. It's light weight, breaths some (so is not unbearably hot), and seems pretty rugged. It's worked reasonably well (not as good as my Aerostich...) through some all-day downpours. They come is a pretty conspicuous orange color, which seems like a good thing to increase visibility. Also, cheap (under $45).

I have a Nelson Riggs Storm Rider Jacket and Tourmaster Pants. They work great. My preference is to buy them so they fit over your Riding Jacket. Also go for the 2 piece. That way if it is cold in the morning, you can wear the pants by themselves to block out the cold wind. One piece suits are fine, but difficult to fit them over any gear. Nylon will last longer than pvc, but they are both waterproof.
