Just got back from a ride in which I had a bumping bad experience; I had some air under my ass when I came down hard. It left me breathless, I had to pull over and check the condition of the family jewels. My next stop this evening is to Big Five Sporting Goods, in the supporter and cup section. I hope my tenner voice returns by that time.

Last year I hit a giant pot hole with my Honda 919 - 30 miles and hour. The front end bottomed out and the rim was dented. The rear bottomed out too and I took the entire shock on my body. I was thrown up on the tank and almost crashed. I felt fine and did not think anything until I passed some blood in my urine. I never had another incident with blood but had an ultrasound anyway. No more problems. My injuries were completely painless. I never felt slaming into the tank and I rode home at 20 miles an hour because of the damage to the rim.

I called the national park where the road was and it took them almost a month to get around to filling the hole. It had doubled in size by then. Valley Forge NP.

New tire. New rim. A little labor and $500 deductable. OUCH.

I was wearing an Alpinestar one piece touring suit with the normal shin/knee/elbow/shoulder/back protection. I'm not sure that any additional body armor would have helped.

So......... I don't follow the car in front so close (soz I can see the pot holes in time to miss them). AT ANY SPEED !
