No, no no - don't want to hear about your lacy stuff or g-string. I mean what do you wear under your riding gear.
First I'll be honest - I am curious what people wear but is also a bit of a plug for my friends new company ( and no kickbacks to me either sad.gif ).
I used to wear shorts and t-shirts under my leathers then went to stuff like underarmour but found it was not what I needed. My friend Todd (poor guy rides a VTR) was the same and decided to do something about so he started the following company:
What I really like is the fact that it works and wears better than anything I have tried. I sweat like a pig in my leathers, but peel of jacket and nearly dry in this stuff and it dries super fast. The other thing I like is their new stuff with the silver in it. It works like those new bandaids and kills bacteria or don't let it grow or something - so you can use for days and not smell - well like a pig. Great stuff if you tour.
So anyways looking for feed back on site and gear - sorry most of the stuff in stores is in and around Toronto, Canada for now.
Also really looking for what you wear as well ( research you can call it!!)

Most of my repetitive riding is done to and from work, and during lunch. So Im wearing a collared short-sleeve shirt and some long pants.
And otherwise when Im riding for fun Im just wearing a T-Shirt and most the time jeans (unless Im heading to the gym).
I wear a helmet, some padded gloves and a textile armored jacket. I dont wear pants (thats a bit too lengthy and unpractical for me to continually change into) and besides my legs tend to stay hidden most the time anyway. If I did wreck and got some nasty rash, nobody would know for years. Im a long pants-type of guy.
I do plan on getting some riding jeans in the future, but those things are high dollar. Atleast for me now it is.
Ok, so I love wearing balaclavas during the colder riding months, since it is pretty much always riding season here in MObile, AL... BUt, during those cool to cold nights, I always wear a neck warmer or something that will keep the wind off my neck and from really hitting any skin. Would the CoolMax balaclava be a good winter wear also?? Hmmmm...
I am much like Joe... HOt weather here yields easy clothing... T-shirt, half mesh half leather jacket (leather + armor on shoulders, arms, back; mesh front for venting and cooling), Gaerne riding boots, jeans... I REALLY want to invest in riding pants, but I just have not researched it enough or really found what I want. Likewise, my "under-gear" is not "gear". However, I am tempted to buy a few things right now. Plus, I have my eyes getting VERY close to a nice Vanson full leather right now for all season riding. Me..Need...Pants... laugh.gif

that has to be hotter than you know what.....isn't there something else you could use? Perhaps lycra type pants, or do they not offer enough of a buffer?
Long sleeve bicycle jersey on the top. Breaths well and looks better than ski underwear (get "unfashionable" colors cheap on eBay). Electric vest, poly underwear and/or fleece depending on weather.
Shorts, bicycle shorts, poly long johns, fleece (sweat) pants, or any combination of these depending on weather and length of ride.
Its all about moisture management. Getting it out of there! Gortex or other breathable fabric is the way to go for touring outer jacket and pants beer.gif
I wear a thong, only backwards! goofy.gif I like the underarmor boxer briefs. But I buy the Wal Mart brand, same material much better price. Very comfy and wicks the heat away from "the boys". Gel shorts would be a good idea for a long trip....and might help from smacking the tank with "the boys" idea3.gif
I've been using the UnderArmour stuff for a while and seems to work well. It's very slick so leathers come off easy.........seems to be lots of the "moisture wicking" stuff out there so who knows if any are really any better than others????
Working on buying track gear now and with the arrival of my new 1pc last week I'll be in this market in the next month or so I'm sure. Just gotta do my research and see what kinda prices are out there. Looks like I've found my stuff but I'm that guy that researches something until I know everything I can possibly absorb about before I try and buy it. Price seems competivitve too. Nice.
As of right now, I usually wear a compression type shirt which Target sells that I've found great for under the jacket. Nice and cool, not bulky but also not restrictive. Generally just wear jeans through the summer but with the new suit I'm sure that will change as it's sized for the track and jeans are definately going to be a NO GO! How about a US dealer though, maybe a bunch of them or getting his stuff into Tucker Rocky, Part Unlimited, etc. Market base would be HUGE then.
During the bulk of the riding season in the summer months, it's a custom 1pc leather suit with a t-shirt and bicycle shorts underneath. The rest of my legs aren't bothered by the leather or anything, and the padding in the shorts helps on longer rides.
under leathers we wear an off brand of "under Armour" top and bottom. Sometimes long pants, sometimes shorts but always long sleeve tops.
Under textile pants I wear the same as I have fitment issues in the thighs and don't have room to squeeze jeans underneath but Snowgirl can wear just about anything under hers.
thickness of underwear varies with season of course.
On hot days I wear a cycling/running t-shirt style jersey (cool-max or the like) and I wear padded cycling underwear/liner on any longer rides. Sugoi Ricarro 2 liners to be exact, it's light mesh and has a great cycling pad/chamois in it. It's better than a typical cycling lycra short because it is cooler, but any padded cycling shorts help keep you drier, cooler and offer some padding and support. Every one of you should go get a pair, loose the briefs/boxers. I also wear cycling cool-max socks to keep the feet dry and comfy. The key is to wear something that wicks and stays dry, cotton can hold 20 times it's weight in water (sweat-gross) so discomfort is a given there.
Of course I should add that these are under my Teknic leathers and Sidi boots huh.gif Since I am an avid cyclist I have tons of this stuff.
I saw the selection of PUG clothing today at the SPort Bike Rally in Parry SOund. THis stuff is awesome and I plan to get some. I have been wearing a dri max type of t shirt - thanks to JOhne, and if the PUG stuff does half of what its supposed to, it will be the under gear for everyone to wear.
I wear shorts, but I have trouble with my leathers grabbing at my knees once I get a little sweaty. I've tried talcum powder, which only worked for a short while. Will these lycra type undergarments take care of that and let the leathers slide even when they start soaking up sweat? Just as important, if not more so, where can I find the cheapest versions of this type of clothing?

At last year's Michigan Flaf ride Bunsel mentioned UnderArmor full length pants. As soon as I got my textile pants I realized I needed something to help slip them on and off. I went out and got a pair of the keep-you-cool type and won't ride without them. I've been in 40 degree and 100 degree temps and they work awesome regardless of the temp. As for on top, I wear a tee-shirt. My leather jacket isn't nearly as tight fitting so I don't need the slickness of the UnderArmor.
The relaxed fit PUG boxers are exactly what I've been looking for - but not at that price. It would cost over $400 for someone to get a couple weeks worth (yikes!). Anyone know of a similar product for less - perhaps at a bulk rate?
BTW- sometimes dryness is undesirable, and thick water retaining cotton is favorable for underwear in cases where you're getting soaked and using evaporative cooling. Are there any materials better than cotton for this?
