My wife and I both have HJC Symax helmets internally wired with mics/speakers for bike to bike. We like this helmet. The only thing that I'd like to change is the overall helmet size for her. She's a 5' pixie wearing a "XS" helmet... Mine is "L". ... but the shells are the same size. her XS has more padding inside to ensure a snug fit, but there's a fist ful of room between her lips and the chin bar.
Does any helmet company (I'm probably showing a lot ignorance here..) make an XS helmet *WITH A XS SHELL?* I feel like she's having to wear three pairs of sox to make the shoes fit.
I guess I always thought all of the manufacturer's had different size shells for different size heads. I know they use thicker padding in the liner to take up the slack between sizes but to use the same shell from L to XS seems like a bad idea to me.

Yikes that thing is huge. I like what you did with the grilles on the side of the bike, they look great painted red. I just may have to do with with my '97. Do you have any more images of the bike?
The bike has 10,000 miles on it... TB high pipe, chrome wheels, polished swingarm, rear hub, frame, front rotors, Sargent seat, lowered about three inches, Z6 radials, Steben air horn (when ya REALLY scare the crap outta the passed vehicle..), and wired for a bike-to-bike radio.

OK, it looks large, but the modular helmets are larger than most in chin to bar length, aren't they? The Schuberth I had on was, but maybe it is due to all the lenses and such stuffed into the helmet.
Back to the subject - Arai makes a number of shell sizes in all of their lines. Shoei has already been mentioned. HJC does two sizes; in their AC12 line at least. So, they are out there...

My girl friend wears XS, too...and trust me was pretty hard difficult to find the right helmet. We found a very nice Helmet from UVEX, "Wing III". Strangly...the S size fix perfectly to her.
The helmet looks really nice, it is compact and light. It has a special visor made by Bayer, antifog, antiscratch, and semi dark (fume`)...it means she can uses it within the day without the need to wear glasses, and by night without any problems. Moreover the visor in the night is able to reduce some glare effects (I hope I'm writing correct) due to the lights of the other cars (coming from opposite side). In Europe it costs just 210 Euros, so, about 269 USD. But...I've just checked their web site, it seems they don't sell motorbike helmets in US. Chekout this link for the German website (link "helme" to display all the helmets). UVEX motorsport German The only way maybe is Ebay (or to plan a trip in Europe with VFR).
Anyway, if you cannot find Uvex, Shoei has for sure an XS small helmet that would fit perfectly to your wife. Cheers :rolleyes:

Arai uses different shell sizes. As I remember, from the last time that I researched it - XS and S share one shell, M and L another, L and XL another, and XXL gets another. The shell on my Arai (I wear a medium) is noticeably smaller than the other brands that I have worn. Arai builds helmets in three head shapes, and their sizes run small (e.g. Medium in Arai corresponds to Large in other helmets, at least for me) - so you will need to have her fitted.
