So, I got my yellow '99 VFR... but my jacket was this pale straw colour... Actually I think there is a pic somewhere...

It looked terrible with the dark yellow of the VFR!
I've looked around a bit at various gear/accessories but things are never the right tone... always that BRIGHT yellow, and just not deep enough for the colour of the bike... I've looked at photo's people have posted on here too, and the gear is never quite right. (With the exception of Trace!)
Anyway, I decided to try dying the beige section of the leather... and went to one of the largest manufacturer of leather finishing products in Aust. who's head office and factory conveniently happened to be just round the corner from work, gotta love that!
I used stripper to prepare the surface of the leather, I guess it's like de-greaser or something, to make sure there is no waxy polish... on goes the Yellow "Raven Oil" and after a few coats I was pretty happy with it... until I put it next to the bike - YUCKO! sad.gif

idea3.gif I thought I'd try mixing a little bit of red oil paint into the dye, and painting the orange mixture onto the leather... it's much better... very close, but still not quite right!
I will put up a pic of the finished colour tomorrow...
Yep. Same problem here. I got a red viffer, then all of a sudden I realize how TOTALLY AWEFULL my shade of lipstick looks with it. THEN, I realized my Set-Up boots like totally CLASHED with my Icon jacket (who would have thought there are sooooo many shades of black). Also, the pink jock I wear now upsets the red of the bike, so more buttless chaps for me. Luckilly, the new highlights in my hair perfectly compliment my UnderArmout t-shirts......
You are right that the straw yellow was a bit too missmatched with the dark yellow vfr.
However, if you get the color of your leather to match at least a bit better, the difference will not be so obvious since the yellow is only on your shoulders. There will never be a direct comparison to the bike. Plus human eyes tend to notice rather the same primary colors and do not notice the differences in shades unless specifically told to.
Another solution is to wear plain black and match only acessories - for instance gloves with yellow accents : [image: IPB Image] or [image: IPB Image]
Last solution which comes to my mind is 'GO FAST' ... that way no one will have time to dwell on the little shade differences ...
Plus, Riot Grrrl, let's be honest: There are not too many women with bikes who would not understand the difficulty to find properly fitting AND color matching moto female attire. And guys? They do not distinguish shades anyway. Just ask them about the hair color of their wife or gf... You will get only 3 standard answers: Blond, brown, black, red (ok - four)...
So, if you can get over the mismatched shades of yellow, you will save yourself a lot of troubles and no one will notice unless you tell them

Most of the yellows on most gear tend to match the Suzuki yellow, which is more pale than Honda Yellow. However, and as I've mentioned before, the Shoei Axis Yellow is absolutely spot-on, and the Rocket stuff (like the gloves) is pretty close. The Tourmaster Cortech jacket that I have is NOT a good match, but it is spot-on to the Suzuki color (colour). You can see all this in my avatar photo.

IMHO: I try to wear bright colors. My bike is red, my jacket is yellow and silver and black (teknic chicane) my gloves are yellow (violator pros) but my pants are black. My next helmet will be solid white (unless I get another smoking deal on a graphic). I would rather look silly and get drivers attention than color coordinate. And Trace is right that Shoei yellow helmet is right on with the yellow vfr.....looks sharp too. Just my 2 cents
If I did not care about safety I would def. wear all black....why because it looks cool! And I would sweat my a$$ off in FL

Definitely major improvement - you know - in every art class they say - sometimes matching colors are not the same shade but shades which match... yours match !!!
Looked like some of the shadowed areas of the cowl matched better... didn't look so bad! I guess I'd have to see it with the whole bike but I don't know how much you can fool with colouring leather. Besides, as long as you wear those pink 'bunny boots' when you ride, it will help take peoples' minds off the difference.... wink.gif

I was getting ready for work this morning, no time to put gear on, didn't want to get dressed twice!
And I can't ride it yet, 13 more sleeps until I'm allowed to legally ride it... I'm spastically excited, have been counting down the sleeps from 50!! Getting closer, *does a little dance* biggrin.gif
When I can ride it, then I'll get the gear on etc smile.gif

Don't forget, ladies, that one out of twelve men out there are actually color-blind, a malady that's much more rare in women.
As for myself, I always approach these situations from the standpoint of complementary colors, as opposed to striving for an exact match. Exact match is almost impossible when dealing with different fabrics, let alone completely different substances (cloth vs. metal, etc...).

Does this mean that you are not yet legal driving age? Not knowing where you are from I don't know what the age limit is.
