I am looking into a 3/4 coat for the cold weather here in the East Coast to wear with an electric vest/coat. Anyone have a 3/4 coat they like? I tried a Darien, but was very uncomfortable. sad.gif Kept riding up in the shoulders and tight. I think most of the 3/4 coats are more for an upright bike.
Any other suggestions/brands for jackets for cold weather riding besides a 3/4? unsure.gif
I have tried the Tourmaster Advanced Jacket which is awesome! Very warm and also has waterproof venting. I bought the Teknic Cyclone which is quite warm with the zip out fleece liner. I love this jacket but it is all black (does have good reflective striping). That is why I must sell it....it would be better suited in your "neck" of the woods. The Teknic is well built and you can find good deals on both jackets. I'd prefer the tourmaster only due to more venting and a non-black color. The teknic has nice GP style armor too!
I've got a Joe Rocket Ballistic 3/4 jacket that works really well (I forgot which x.0 version it is). With the liner in it's nice and toasty, and it provides a pretty good range of motion.
Inexpensive and I have used them in temps down to 26 degrees (not including wind chill) and was completely toasty. It is made by Vega. Just run a search for Nitro Turismo.

I got a pair of the pants... the coldest I've in is 46 degrees, but they kept me comfy... so a +1.gif (at least in the fall.)

+1.gif on the cortech advanced I just got one on closeout for a little over 100 bucks and its perfectly comfortable on the vfr and even if it was a little long its got the double zipper so you could "unzip" the bottom to fit. Warm for the 40 degree commute this AM and quite a few nice little touches that impressed me. Didnt get wet on the way home yesterday in a pretty decent rain. Its comfortable enough it might just turn into my Winter coat with the armor removed
I have a Tourmaster 3/4 Advance jacket that I use when the temps drop. When I ride to work at 2 in the afternoon the temperature ia about 70 F so I leave the liner out with the vents open, by Midnight the temperature has dropped to 45 F, so in goes the liner and the vents are closed. The jacket is useful over a wide range of conditions including rain and temps down to the low 30s along with additional layers. The jacket gets a annual washing and retreatment using TechWash and NikWax. So far it has served me well for the last four years with very little visible signs of wear.
Also used in conjunction with the Tourmaster jacket is a pair of Tourmaster Cortech pants, this combination along with Columbia long underwear enables me to stretch my riding season with out the benefit of any of heated clothing.
