Has any one had any experience with the new AFX FX-100 Helmet? I'm in need of a new helmet and this one is in the right price range with some niceties to boot

IIRC, AFX is positioned a little below mid level brands like Scorpion and HJC.
I would thaink that they should be OK but most likely noisier and less plush then the two brands and other higher brand helmets like Shoei and Arai which cost double what an AFX might.
The good thing is, lower level brands do not neccesarily mean totally unusable as it did just a few years ago. There had been tests after tests run by magazines and other publiactions showing that the lower cost helmets have been improving enough that they should be seriously consered by bikers if they are on a budget.
The basic design on helmets have been constantly worked on for years for improvements that the science on making acceptable helmets have been "shared" over and over by the manufacturers, that they can only really mess up a helmet if they stray too far from convention.
Try to find a dealer that will let you test out the AFX helmet to help you ake your final decision. Some of them will even let you purchase and take it home with an option to return or excahnge it if you are not happy with it.
Keep in mind too that the quality control (Mostly on cosmetics, but sometimes certain parts might be installed crooked or even loosely or the decal and paintjob will have misalignment and other flaws) on cheaper helmets are still more suspect than the established brands, so do not hesitate to look for the best examples in the shop before you decide on your final purchase.

I have an AFX FX-37 which I bought when I had my KLR. For the price the build quality is actually very good when compared to my HJC. I never got to use it for to long as I sold the bike and didn't want to rock a dual sport helmet while riding the viffer - so I can't really attest to how well they hold up.... but based on my experiences I would say damned good. My AFX with the visor removed is actually quiter than my HJC FS-15 Carbon.
