VFR Discussion Group -> Anyone use the CARBTUNE II to sync SV's?

Looking for feedback on the CARBTUNE II 4 column sync tool. After having read far too many posts on surging, starter valves sync, and o2 sensor swapping - thought I should look into this further.

My faith in local stealership service is not particularly high - and if syncing the starter valves is going to be a regular maintenance item anyway - thought it might be $ smart to buy the tool to do it myself.

If you've used this one - or have one to suggest that you liked - let me know. Hey - maybe I'll get one - and split the costs with other local VFRs that also want to get things corrected?

I have one of these and have been using Morgan kit for 20 years, I will not bore you to death with tails of how good they are or how much money they have saved me in that time. Million times easier to use than gauges.

Just do it, you will not be disapointed.

I bought one and used it to synch the starter valves on my VTEC. I bought it mostly on the strong reviews from the UK VFR Club site, the RiDE magazine recommendation, and the fact that there is no mercury to mess with.

It was easy to set up and worked well. It is well put together but made of plastic and I highly recommend purchasing the storage case.

My only problem is that the synchronization actually made the initial idle rougher and did not smooth out my VTEC hit. It actually seemed to make it worse.

I have synched carbs before and this is not rocket science so I'm attributing this to the Power Commander and O2 sensor elims. I'm going to disconnect the PC and retry it this weekend to see if I can get a better result.

I don't have a VTEC, but speaking of the UK VFROwnersClub, ISTR something about one of the Honda manuals giving the wrong vacuum specs. Might want to do a search over there...the author was Wiz (owner of the site).
