I'm trying to find frame protectors (sliders) available in Canada for my new '05 VFR (red). Does anyone know of availability (if any) and location for said product? As well, I'm also curious to see if anyone has used a frame protector and found it useful, and if so what type did you purchase?

I have looked about quite a bit also and the problem is the side radiators and other pieces preclude an easy install. It has been done, but to do it right you have to either get a new smaller radiator overflow bottle or modify the existing one to allow a solid spot to affix one of the sliders. Me, I gave up on it for the time being until I have to remove all the plastic bits for the VTEC valve adjustments, then I may do it.

I was starting up from an intersection and turning right, my wife (who is still learning to ride) dropped her Burgman half way around the turn right in front of me, I had to stop really quickly right in the middle of the turn under brisk acceleration. Although I stopped in time and did not hit her, I was so surprised that my bike tipped over onto my leg. When I take her out again I am going to keep a good distance from her, even though that well may put her at greater risk :(

Hey Jane,
I recently installed the Motovation Frame sliders(MV) and have a writeup in the 6th gen forum "MV frame sliders installed"(I think that's how I titled it).
The pics from the install are in my gallery now.

hey the motivation sliders kick ass. i got em and had to mod the coolant bottle. have actually a spare coolant bottle... maybe i'll mod 'er up and sell it! i think i paid like 12 bucks us for it so i guess something like 20bucks cdn???

Wow! Thank you for your help - I'll look into all of the suggestions! I printed off the step approach for installing the sliders and bottle modifications - something to show the guys in the shop. (I'm not a mechanic. This is where I put on my girly-girl cap and say "geezzzz") I'm hoping to get the sliders on the bike before I leave the showroom floor with it. If not - definately before the big trip south in July!

At the time it happed she had not yet taken lessons, she was reluctant to really get down and practice moves in empty parking lots, read Sport Bike Riding Techniques by Nick Ienetch or listen to my guidance. She has since changed her mind and is half way through the Cyclelogic course and loving it :rolleyes: She can be willful
I am still going to stay a sizable distance away when we ride to together until I can see for myself that her skills are solid. I am still strongly recommending to her to practice a whole bunch in parking lots (gravel & rain too), in particular all the panic maneuvers, so that they are totally second nature :deer:
But hey if she does not assure me she has the skill set or is working hard on it, I won�t be riding much with her. Once bitten twice shy, you can lead a horse to water but you can�t make him drink..................................................... :(

I've learned through experience that riding with a boyfriend/common-law-husband can be dangerous. What I've gleaned from the experience is that I tend to focus on what they're doing - and try to help/teach/set an example of "how to" with my riding and because of this place myself in situations I would normally avoid. Having experienced 1. a run through a 6 foot high fence, 2. a leg burn from the exhaust - all from the process of helping said individual I've come to the conclusion that I think that riding is a skill best left to the asphalt. And partners sharing the same bed - are best left at home. Sad but true.
