VFR Discussion Group -> Trailering help, please

'm planning to trailer my bike to a track in a couple of weeks. I'm sure I read somewhere on this site about a kind of tiedown that's important to use with helibars, but I can't find it.

I'm plannning to use a rented trailer with a steel bed and low metal sides, with tiedown attachments.

If regular ratcheting tiedowns will work on the Helibars, great, but I swear I read a long thread about what to use...maybe it was just a thread about the best kind of tiedown.

I've seen the kudos given to Canyon Dancer chocks,l but first i want to see if I like the trailering idea. The track's a couple hundred miles away, and I've got soft tires, or I'd just ride there and back.

The best investment I made to secure my bike in back of my truck or trailer was a Sport Chock Sport Chock

HELLO....trailering your VFR! Isn't that a sin? Unless there is snow or ice there in no excuse.

Or if you just bought the bike in Georgia, it doesn't have tags and you need to get it home to Maryland. :D

All kinds of reasons to trailer a bike. Just doing it the right way is the fun.

I hate loading/unloading my bike from a truck.

Scares the crap out of me. I guess practice is the key. I watched a guy unload my bike from the truck last year by himself while talking on a cell phone. The first time I tried to unload it (down an aluminum bike ramp), the ramp slid off the back of the truck & I rode the VFR to the ground on its wheels. Never fell over. Pucker factor 11.9...

Mine went on a trailer that normally carries the lawn mower. Nice wide ramp.

Just don't try to ride the bike up when the trailer isn't hooked up to the tow vehicle.
