On a previous thread, I was kindly reminded that I had ConvertiBars installed, not HeliBars like I mistakenly claimed. Duh.
I was able to, with an appropriate hex socket, completely configure the height and orientation of my bars for a little more comfort and less
bendy-over on this unathletic 42-year old body.
I spent a fair amount of time in 'urban' riding on this lovely day in Seattle, and can offer my opinion as to the worthiness of ConvertiBars: Get a set if you're considering them.
They can be 'converted' to any position you want... you can flip them around to aggressive or more upright.
Great product.
And, I decided to get a new helmet. My HJC 12 has served me nicely but I've had it since summer of 2001. It's gettin' gamey on the inside, and - correct me if I'm wrong - helmets *do* have a lifespan.
I was set on a Scorpion EXO-400 Tsunami model, but I've done a little research and seems that the jump up to an EXO-700 would be a better investment.
EXO-400s received fine reviews, for what it was. Spend a little more and with the 700 you get exponentially more than the upgrade price.
I ordered this exo-700 "Predator" in black and red from a seller on Amazon.com ('303Cycles'") in Colorado. $208 with free shipping, it was the lowest I've seen (pretty much $230 everywhere online, my local dealer could order me one for $250 and I'd have to pay tax on top of that).
Scorpion helmets, I'm told (and can verify with my own melon) have a fit very similar to HJC lids. I'm thrilled that these 700s have an excellent venting system, as well as well reviewed anti-fog visor.
My new helmet should arrive within a week. Fingers crossed.
