My girlfriend is graduating from college in a few weeks and I have decided to get her a motorcycle jacket so that when she goes riding with me, she does not have to use one that is wayyyyyy too big for her. I want to know what some of you recommend. I've been looking at the Tourmaster Flex 2 woman's jacket. I've got the Flex pants and they are great. However, it is a bit more than I'm looking to spend at $161. What do you guys think?
It really depends on what type of jacket you want to get her. As elizilla mentioned, New Enough always has something on sale and they have good products and great service.
I also just did a quick peek at Bike Bandit and their sale section has lots of offerings as well.
Best of luck in your search, our SO's deserve to be as well protected as we are, maybe even better, heh! (In case she's watching
Some things you might want to consider is the placement of the all the armor in the riding position. My SO is short and some of the spine protectors were too long and felt like the were pressing on the back of her helmet. Some of the shoulder armor made her feel like her head movement was restricted as well so we finally took her helmet to a local store and also hit one of the bike shows and she tried on all kinds of jackets, with helmet, and sat on bikes to find a combo that make her comfy. She ended up liking the BMG Mercury Jacket and the First Gear Textile Mesh for hot days.
I bought my wife a Teknic Daytona a few years back. Nice, thick armored leather, fully perforated, good quality. Found it on closeout for <$100, from either kneedraggers or ironpony (forget which).
you shouldn't put your self on too much of a budget if it's your gf graduating from college. that's kind of a big thing! and so is her skin!!! pictures please...
I bought two different FieldSheer Jackets last year for my wife on close out
Fieldsheer Ladies Roma Jacket, Waterproof lined and removable quilted liner. But you cook inside this jacket on HOT Summer Days.
Fieldsheer Ladies High Temp Mesh, for Hot summer days, liner is really nice but only water repellent.
Both Jackets are nice and she liked both. I really like the High Temp jacket and wished it came in mens, the only down fall is it doesn't have a waterproof liner. You might consider Fieldsheer Ladies Mach 7 Mesh Jacket???
Newenough is a great place to get gear. Check their "best deals" and "closeouts" sections....as well as "Bargain Basement" WITHIN the closeouts section (for some reason not everything shows up in each place. There are a lot of women's jackets in the bargain basement area.
I bought my wife this jacket (though it
smore than you want to spend). It looks awesome and is well made: Joe Rocket Aura
And this mesh jacket which offers less protection, but looks great too: Shift Airborne
Whatever you do, just get her something she will like and will wear!
Good luck.
What I'm looking for is preferably textile with lots of vents. That is why the Flex 2 looks so nice. It is very versatile.
As far as a picture...you've got to be kidding me. She would kill me.
And the budget....I know it sounds cheap. But look at it this way. I'm in grad school, working part time, and trying to save for a ring. Money is not something I have a particularly large amount of my anyone's standards.

Well, OK. Never hurts to ask
I suggest to sit down with her and go through a bunch of different jackets online. You can use NewEnough or some other big retailer with a lot of choices.
Don't look at the price. Just understand what she likes.
IMPORTANT! Pick out more than one!!!
Remember, that she has to look good and it's a big deal to her. It the jacket doesn't fit this criteria, you've wasted what little money you had.
Once you know what you're looking for, you can check out the specs and the prices.
Good luck.
Even though you did cheat us out of a picture

+1 on that, no matter how much I tell my wife that function is more important than the looks of the gear, she doesn't care. If it doesn't look good, she doesn't want it.
And btw, take it from someone married, you might as well do stuff to deserve her "killing you" because once you are married, you are going to get in trouble for it anyways. At least it can be justified if you actually do it. I give my wife reasons to be mad at me all the time so her imagination doesn't come up with something for her. :goofy:
She's quite happy in the small 1 hour ride we did last night at 58F - 63F.
By the way: First Gear back zipper doesn't zip to the JR Ballistic 7.0 woman's pants. I guess I need to bring her stuff to a tailor.

Thanks for that link, I just bought one for my wife. She wanted that light blue they have. I can't pass up on that price. My wife doesn't mind pics being posted so i will put some up when it comes in.
I just bought my wife an Olympia AirGlide II - Mesh 3/4 Length Jacket. Was $220, but is on closeout now for $149. Great jacket, tailored for a woman. She loves it.
