Earlier this year I arrived into Vega's as part of my 18 day get away. My 023's had logged about 11,500km and I decided to replace the tires while I stayed at a friend's house. My trip would continue into Flagstaff and then Telluride Co and I did not want to replace the tires on the run or with something I really did not want. My 021 where ok, When I replaced them with the 023 I was happy with them especially in the rain (we have almost Zero corners in Alberta) but I wanted the PR3's. I removed the rims and went to the local aftermarket dealer and with a bit of wheeling and dealing and a little begging I was the new owner of some PR3's. The tires for the entire trip where incredible and smooth as silk. After reading all the reports on the PR2 and the turn in and wet riding I was truly happy with the purchase.

Once I crossed into BC, near Nelson, Mother Nature decided to help me test the wet grip. From Nelson BC to Vernon BC it rained. I visited my mother for the day and then made my way home via Revelstoke to Golden... rain.... and more rain. When I entered Lake Louise AB I decided to head towards Jasper. This was a bad choice. The temps fell like a brick and soon I had light snow, -2 temps and high winds.

PR3 Rain: 10/10

PR3 light Snow: 10/10

Turn ins on wet or dry corners:  10/10

High winds hitting all of sudden causing bike to lean way to far catching the rider by complete surprise more than th e023's ever did: 10/10

Due to the long winter this year, we have a few billion pot holes, bumpy roads so even if your bike dropped a wheel weight, you could not tell. This leads me to my next problem. For the last little while I felt at low speeds the front end shake / vibrate but due to the fore mentioned road conditions, chalked it up to that.

As I left for the Nelson meet my goal was to reach Golden BC then meet up with BCmrider, Polar Bear and Squamish in Revelstoke the following day. As I entered a few construction sites I began to really notice the front end at low speeds, very little when I was 80km/50 miles or higher. In The am, I looked at my tire, went huh, and made a call to some dealers in the Nelson area. I made my way to the dealer who sounded like he wanted to help, Texted BCm my problem. The tire was removed and the mechanic showed me the flat spots and the sides had feathered over. My choice of tires came down to the BT021, Pilot Power or Pure. I could have just lived with it but then I thought why should I and told the guy to replace it with the Pilot Power. Soon I was on my way to Nelson with no low speed shakes, vibration. Rear tire is 100% ok.

Tires at that point had just over 5,600KM/ 3,479 miles and when it comes time to repalce the tires I will get the PR3 again. For the wet weather alone in my area the tire was better than the 023's. I have a video for the Japser and light snow, and 1 day when I learn how to post a video from my goPro I will share that frozen 35 second clip.

I have had PR3's on my VFR1200 for around 8k miles now and they're only just showing signs of needing replacing soon. Upto recently they have been superb, good turn in, better cornering giving way more confidence and no difference in feel in the wet. Now, they are getting more susceptible to white lines and the like, but don't they all when they get worn?
