Tank bags free up your movement and make the ride more comfortable. Just my $.02

I don't like anything on my back when I ride but looks like a cool pack.

blink.gif I've done lots of riding with a backpack; normally it's not too bad, but high winds can whip you around more, than without. It makes it warmer when riding on a cool day. On long rides, the constant bumpiness makes for back problems and a sore a$$. It may not seem like a lot of weight, but it will make you want to die after a long day's ride. For that reason, I've gone with a Givi speedpack (hard aero-shaped compartement with a soft expandable bladder) for my tail. I'm not a fan of tankbags, since they scratch the paint and fueling up is always a pain. I also llike to tuck in behind the screen during poor weather, and like to see my gages. Just my 2 cents

It all comes down to your personal perference. The hard bag on speed tv is a very nice bag, friend of mine has one and he loves it. But I agree with Q-Dawg, after a while on your back it will wear on you. I just use an Icon tank bag and the honda hard bags.

I did one 3 hour plus ride with a back pack last year going to the sportbike
rally in parrysound. Wasn't too bad. My tank bag was full too. If you are going
to back pack though I highly recommend getting one that has a good waist belt.
Takes alot of the weight off your shoulders. I plan on getting a tail bag this year
though. Have attached a pic of the pack I use.

I have been checking AXIO packs out for some time as an alternative to a tailbag/tankbag. A bit pricy. They look well build and stylish though. I saw the promo on SPEED last night. I checked out their site a while ago and their supposed to come out with a small, lighter pack. Its my understanding that the AXIO is smaller than the GIVI speedpack, but have a similar style. I noticed GIVI has discontinued the speedpack though. Unfortunately, because of where I park, I prefer not to leave anything on the bike. Does anyone have one of the AXIO packs? Your opinion?

when i was still at school i rode a lot with a back pack. I finally bought a elastic net to releave me for carring the bag, It is not that bad but i prefer having nothing on me.



Last year I bought a magnetic tank bag and i love it.

I use both the Speedpak tank bag and the Givi Speed Pack for the tailbag for long distance solo trips as I like hard pack, waterproof and lockable. The tank bag can be worn as a back pack for hiking, etc.

Looked at the AXIO case, but the dimensions are too big for either the tank bag or tail bag. Cool looking design.

I suggested that they reduce the dimensions a little for handlebar and crotch clearnace. Will see in Gen 2.

Won't wear a back pack while riding. Too much weight on the back and in the event of a get-off. 491.gif

I used a messenger bag when I commuted on my old Nighthawk, it worked well. I put the strap across my body, the bag sat nicely on the back seat. If I ever went down it would be airborne in a millisecond, but it stayed while I was riding anyway.

I only rode with a pack once, and wasn't really comfortable with it. I felt top-heavy.

If you choose to ride with one, here's a good piece of advice that I didn't hear until after I bought my first tank bag: Don't put anything in your backpack sharper or harder than an orange.

For some reason, backpacks just don't work for me. My shoulders get sore?

Another option......I tend to prefer tailbags to tankbags(although I have them and do use them occasionally) for the reasons mentioned above, i.e. tailbags don't get in the way for me at all.....don't even know it's there.

I've got a Tourmaster Cortech bag for longer trips, an Oxford Humpback for regular day to day stuff, and for really light "low profile" days I've got a small Jansport backpack that I modified to snap on under the seat. I use a variation of the "snap" set up for all the tailbags that I use so I never have any straps etc. touching the bodywork.
