Deals Gap - Need directions please

[image: Attached Image]Me and a buddy want to ride down to Deals Gap Friday the 25th March.
I will be taking down my '02 viffer, he will be on '04 919



1. I need accurate directions to Deals Gap from Knoxville ( I heard it's a little tricky to get there as some online maps are not accurate??) :blink:


2. I will be there all of Saturday and Sunday morning any good drives that you guys can recommend in and around the smokeys? :idea3:



I had a look at the 10day weather forcast seems like it could be around 64F over next weekend down there, thought this would be a good oppertunity to get out there early in the season :wheel: , and tips advice will be appreciated.

Looks like you have directions already. Just follow route 129 all the way down from Knoxville. Keep an eye out for the signs and watch your speed when you get close to the gap. Cops out on weekends. Enjoy and take your time the first time. Then have some fun. Traffic is a little bit more on weekends. Check out www.tailofthedragon.com for all of the info you need.

The most direct way from Knoxville is down Alcoa Hwy (411 I think it is) through Maryville and Alcoa turn left on 129. Deals Gap is on 129. Here is the link to the Tail of the Dragon website. There are several area maps and even a link with directions to the Gap. :wheel:

In addition to what the other guys mentioned, when you stop at the Cross Roads of Time, pick up one of the Mad Maps of the area. It has several other suggested routes for all kinds of riding. The Cherohala Skyway and "The Dragon" are both a must!

Be very careful on the weekend! It can get very crowded in the area. If you could take Monday off and ride then, it will be a completely different experience. :thumbsup:

totally agree with Rhodes, Mondays its a ghost town up there.

Thanks for all the help guys, www.tailofthedragon.com helped quite a bit, also the Monday idea is a good one.

Just be sure to watch the signs for 129 as you are coming south from Alcoa. Highway 129 makes a left turn that is easy to miss.

Have fun on the Dragons Tail and be sure to check out the Cherahola Skyway.
