I'm simul-posting this on ADV, but figure I will post here as well since quite a few VFRD members asked for a heads up whenever I got around to doing it. Mods please move me to "other motorcycle talk" if needed.

A 2014 summer's tale of one idiot with no friends, a WR250R pack mule, and a leaky tent -- as told through the lens of a cheap DSLR that won't autofocus. 34 days of solitude, scenery, and aimless wandering in the Centennial State.

All captions/descriptions limited to 140 characters or less, Twitter-style, since we all read Playboy for the articles.

Day 1 starts at Telluride Airport. Slept in the truck while it poured all night. An ominous beginning, but I set off undeterred. Last Dollar Road's up first.

Routine: up early every morning. Pack quickly and hit the road to find a quiet spot to have tea. Smell the roses.

Off the bike though, it was chill stuff: Soulstance "Blue Grassland," was a favorite, Riton "Put That On My Momma," along with plenty of Dave Koz (try "Beneath the Moonlit Sky"), S.P.Y. ("You" is good), Submotion Orchestra ("Finest Hour" is a favorite, and "Perfection"), Erik Satie, John Denver (yes, lame) and of course my usual hip-hop shenanigans.

And yeah, Even in the Quietest Moments is a great song.

Enjoying the scenery. Keep the pics coming. Usually I have to haul a 40lb pack up 20+ miles on my back to enjoy views like that, and I carry that same two leg chair! Thanks for sharing. Hope the wrist is ready for some rides this summer.

I did an almost identical trip from my home in Colorado Springs on my birthday a few years back, well Identical where it gets to Lake City, wonderful place to visit on an adventure bike, or a cross bike.

Thanks man. Yeah, almost everything here is HDR. I take separate exposures then blend and process with Photomatix Pro 5. Some like that style and some don't.

Day 18 and 19 don’t exist. Got new tires at Mountain Tech Yamaha in B.V. (great shop). I also may have discovered margarita otter pops.

But of course my pictures don't look even remotely that good ;-) Nice to see outsiders experience the sheer joy (and sometimes struggles) of dirt biking in Colorado. Did you ever get sick of all the loose jagged rocks on almost every jeep road out here?

And yes, I have disobeyed the sign and ridden up Red Cone once or twice.

I didn't grow tired of the rocks, actually. Even though I often lost the battle, I always enjoyed the challenge. I guess I'm a masochist.

Also gave some thought to trying to go up Red Cone -- but I couldn't decide if I was more scared of going up or coming down. Eventually I did nothing...story of my life.

In a rare non-sarcastic moment, just want to say thanks to everyone who followed along and had so many nice things to say about my photos and this RR.

At various times in my life I've drawn inspiration and motivation from other people's travels -- I'm simply repaying my debts to all who have written RRs before me. I suppose now it's on to the next adventure. This one was a lot of fun though, so thanks for coming along for the ride.

Thanks! I have sold a few, though not any posted on this report (actually none taken with the T2i -- all with my 6d). Most of the problem is the focus is very slightly off on the T2i, and the cheapo lenses I use on the T2i don't have great sharpness or optics.

That said, you can do roughly 23 x 15 at 200dpi, and 19 x 13 at 300dpi. Photoshop can upsize to whatever size you want though.

Nice, I always liked DRs. Even had a DRZ for a while. I only went WR because I wanted FI for all the altitude changes.

Someone somewhere inspired me, so now it's your job to pass it on!

No, Dutchy! I need to make some modifcations to the bike, and I nee to get REALLY good at riding it before I attempt Colorado! So, first a year's worth of practicing (and it is hard to pick between the VFR and the DR), and by next summer I'll be ready. :-)
