First off, I've got to say a big thanks to VFRD member Steve Buccino.
He saw an old post where I had basically mentioned that a couple of friends and I had just done our first "on bike" video and that I was trying to figure out how to get it on the web.
He jumped in and volunteered to work on it and see if he could help. He did and much more......Thanks Steve fing02.gif
Anyway, this was last Dec.(before we got all washed away with the rains) and as I said was a first attempt at this.
[image: user posted image] My friend Asis(VFRD member- 04 red VFR among others,and a very good rider)had just gotten a camcorder and I had a mount....so we decided to give it a shot as we knew it would be a great way to see what we're actually doing...and learn.
[image: user posted image] The camera was mounted on Asis' VFR and I got to be the first "victim". Another friend Paul Brown(87 Hawk...scary good rider) led the way through Lake Hughes/Lake Elizabeth Rd's.
THE MAP
Lake Hughes Rd. is a fav of all the sport riders in our area......Most of the So. Ca. guys can relate I'm sure.
THE TERRAIN
Anyway, this is a 5 minute segment through the twistiest part of the road. We basically ride a "Pace" style ride, i.e. fun and quick in the corners, and sane straight-away speeds. For instance, you'll see at the end of the clip that we're in a long straight section and you'll see me sit up/hand on hip just cruising along.....partially because I was looking back for two others in our group tongue.gif

Excellent video. However, watching it makes me regret living in Ohio. The best scenery I can hope for is the occasional bean field to split two corn fields!

rmcobb, thanks for your kind words cool.gif I've been up in your area...Jackos etc. Neat place, nice roads getting there too. Ever been down in Ventura County area?
Wow, fantastic riding. Just a comment and nothing personal, it is as far as I can say everyone's own decision, but but but, riding at that pace I always try to give my buddy some breathing room. I know I know, makes for a crappy video if your buddy is a speck on the screen, but I've had it happen more than once where a panic braking maneuver would have resulted in a rear ending had the extra space not been there. I notice also that there was a lead guy who DID have extra room and maybe could have signalled any obstructionisms. Nice fore thought. 3.gif I wish I could ride like that. Now on to brighter subjects, would you consider getting a set of Sparkies for the next one?
The higher the skill level, the less of an issue ! Like here. It's a very good idea to have adequate spacing as needed per group, knowledge and ability. The lower your ability and knowledge of your ridding buddies the larger the spacing should be ! fing02.gif
V4glee, no offense taken at all as that's obviously a very valid point.
Couple of things, Paul and Asis and I have ridden together a lot, I mean A LOT...and Asis and I have gone to the same schools together...i.e. same training. Paul has always been our sport biking mentor and when he's starts with his "you guys are surpassing me now" schpiel, I always respond with "hey, we have to take classes just to be within striking distance" laugh.gif He's really good.
Paul(leading) was set up to point out any road issues(as we always do)...surprisingly, there really wasn't any that particular section.
I definitely wouldn't want anyone riding that close behind me that wasn't as skilled a rider as Asis is.....and someone that I trust.
Having said all that, anything can happen to anyone at anytime.....it's all about minimizing risk because there's no way to completely eliminate it.
As far as the titanium sliders....probably not really my style. I'd probably scare myself or set somethnig on fire goofy.gif

Tyke, yeah the time code is a bit of an irritant. Didn't know that that function hadn't been turned off before we started. It was new(camcorder) to Asis, and we didn't think to check that out. Needless to say....it won't be there on the next one tongue.gif (insert "Doh" emoticon)

That's the point I was trying to make in explaining our riding relationship, but as usual Bailey explains it much better in fewer words...thanks man.

Thank you. The artist (and I must use the term loosely tongue.gif ) was me. In my former life I was a working guitar player and instructor. The track on the vid was some instrumental stuff I did..well probably back in the early 90's. It's was "home studio" stuff so it's drum machine and bass sequencing that I programmed and then just the guitar stuff on top of that.
