Hi everyone,
I'm considering getting the OEM saddlebags for my '03, and I was wondering if anyone happens to know the INNER dimensions of the bags. Specifically, I'm wondering if they can each hold a couple of boxes each measuring 11 1/2" square by 2" thick. Kind of like a pizza box. No, I'm not planning to deliver pizzas with my VFR. biggrin.gif

I haven't tried that measurement, but I can tell you I transported a bunch of paper binders containing over 4" of material. So I know at least 8 1/2 by 11 " plus the bounding binder isn't an issue. John
I tried to take a picture of my bags, but my camera is such a piece of crap I would not focus.
It's going to be close. the Bag in general measures 14w x 12h x 10d, but that is only an approximate measurement because the bags are not rectangles.
Where you're going to e close is the height. Even though the bag is about 12inch high , the lock and mount mechanism bulges down from the top of the bag on the inside. It is between 11 and 11 1/4 in under the mechanism, but it dows taper more in the back.
It might work for you to put the boxes in the lid side, because there is more room there, but it might only allow between 3 and 4 inches in front of the bulge. Although it might fit at an angle.
Sorry if that did not make sense, I could not figure out how to describe it.

Sometimes when I come in to work, I need to pick up rolls of motion picture film on my way in, and each roll comes in a box measuring the dimensions I described. Right now I use a messenger bag that can hold three boxes. Any more than that gets to be a pain in the butt. Plus I really don't like riding with the bag on my shoulders.
It sounds like I could fit two in each saddle bag at an angle. Plus maybe stuff the messenger bag in there in case there's more. Besides, it's only a few blocks from the lab to my office.
