I'm not in an area of the country that has good beer...just the mega Ansheiser-Busch and Miller type stuff. I did taste some nice local brew when I visited Wisconsin for an old college buddy's wedding. Leinenkugel
The Holiday Inn in Windsor has something on tap red/green label and I can't remember the name but it was great. Down my way we get a lot of Canadian beer but I generally only drink Labatts Blue, Molson Ice, and Moosehead. :beer:

My pleasure - we have mini kegs, suitable for pre lunch meetings, and post breakfast mtgs......5 litres (enough to kick your arse if you feel lucky) as well as full party kegs (kill you if you're going alone - mame you if you are partnered up).

Living in Calgary I have to say almost any of the Big Rock brews, Trad, Worthog and grasshopper. But to be honest I still prefer the English beers I was raised on, Like Tetley's or if i'm in the mood for a dark heavy beer it would be Theakstons Old Peculiar mmmmm memories, can't get that this side of the pond. But in general I just like beer, So what does making love in a canoe and American beer have in common? They are both F&^#ing close to water. :P Sorry guys just joking.
I know this stuff is probably crap by your standards, but I am fan of Kokanee. My wife and I have some fond memories of sitting in a bar in Prince Rupert, B.C. waiting for our ferry to Alaska. Our waitress was one of the coolest people we have ever met and our time there was the best.
As a result, that beer is the best because of the great time we had, the people we met, and the Canadian hospitialty we experienced. I know most "blue state" Candians aren't big fans of American, but I really enjoyed the time we had driving across the rural regions of the country. The folks were great and Kokanee helped ease the diplomatic relations.
Like it or not fellow Canadians, we share a lot of ambitions. However, you're just a little further east and south (remember, I'm in Alaska).
I prefer Kokanee Gold, and I like to support Big Rock as they are a local company. I also prefer the taste of beer in bottles rather than cans. There is also another beer I'll partake once in a while La Fin du Monde from Quebec. (http://www.unibroue.com/products/fin.cfm) It is worth a try if you can find it.
We have some pretty good local brews here in Cleveland. Great Lakes brewery is located here. They have several different brews. The Burning River Pale Ale is great.
The Guiness folks just began importing Smithwicks to the states. Damn good stuff.

By the way, first ride of the year today. Took the XR (VFR is still in pieces) to work today, still can't feel my hands. It's kind of surreal riding by lakes that are still iced over. I'm sure you Canuks know what I'm talking about. :thumbsup:
Sleemans was/is a very good product. I liked a lot of Canadian products except some of the ones that were extremely strong, such as Maudite. I also preferred beer from bottles. However, all that is behind me. I stopped a few years ago and felt great, so I just stayed stopped.
I started brewing my own last fall and now some beers I used to like taste like s**t to me. Seriously. I just made a rye beer that some have told me is the best beer they've ever tasted. If you like good beer, making your own is fun, cheap and really easy.
As far as Canadian beers go, like a lot of you I've only tried the usual imports. I like most of them, though. Any kind of Molson is good. :beer:
And I've had lots of tasty microbrews in the US of A. My last trip down was to Boulder last July, and I had "Spare Tire" (I think that's the name). Pretty good!
Plus, whenever I go to the states I make a point of having a Bud. Not that it's any great beer, but it's just part of the whole USA experience!!

Hmmm - red/green....
Could have been Alexander Keiths...or 50 (but I don't know that you would describe 50 as "great"!)
Sleeman Honey Brown Lager is my casual beer of choice, despite being able to see through it it's quite a tasty quaff.
But until I can't find it anymore, Sleeman Limited Edition Fine Porter is my premium choice... The liquor stores are running out of it quickly now, it was a limited edition run. I'm hoping the popularity brings it back as a regular.
