I've always ridden Hondas but never had the right bike to make the trek. I've always heard good things about it but never been there. Now that I have the VFR I plan on riding to Knoxville in June for the Hoot. I'll be riding down from Northern Ohio with a friend of mine from Jackson, MI and picking up someone else in Cincinnatti. If anyone else is planning on going, it would be great to meet some you in person or better yet ride along with you.

I will be up there Friday and Saturday but won't be going to the Hoot itself. After you have gone once there really isn't any need to go back. The vendors target cruisers and Wings, the test rides are ok, and the group rides are big and slow. I generally stay at the Extended Stay America on Langley Place because of the proximity to restaurants, bars, etc. There is also less traffic in west Knoxville. I generally lead a ride either Friday or Saturday to Deals Gap/Cherahola. It's a mixed group of sport bikes and cruisers, not a blistering pace but relatively quick. Give me a shout closer to that time and maybe we can hook up for a beverage or six.

I am also from Nothern Ohio. When is the Hoot this year?

I went last year, a total blast. Rides all over the mountains every day and no Harleys exhaust 24 hours a day dronning on you. The hoot is highly recomended. Can't go this year, the house I'm having built gets done and I move in the same week. See you next year.

I'd like to go to the Hoot, but I've committed to the Honda Sport Touring Association (HSTA) national rally, STAR 05, in Lexington, KY, June 19-22. Probably can't do the Hoot (June 22-25), too.

On the other hand, what a convenient opportunity.........hard to pass up. Maybe, my neighbor will take care of my lttle ones for a few extra days, so I can attend the Hoot. Hmmm.....

Any other HSTA members here? Anybody going to STAR 05?

The Hoot is June 21-25. I plan on riding down Friday afternoon (half-day Fridays rock!) and coming home Sunday. A friend of mine will be riding from work (Ann Arbor) with me. I'll be stopping in Cinci to pick up a friend for the rest of the ride. Don't worry, she has her own bike! Let me know if you're intersted. We could meet Friday sometime, ride to Cinci and continue on to TN.

Hey,
I went to the 2003 Hoot, and definitely recommend it. Besides the usual vendor exibits and demo rides, the roads in the area are great! Riding the Dragon (Deals Gap) and the Cherohala Skyway is something every rider should do at least once. And if you've got the time, the Blue Ridge Parkway aint so bad either.... just watch out for the deer!
