dry.gif I just picked up oxford sports lifetime panniers(saddlebags) and a humpback tailbag from seller on E-bay. They are really nice but came with no instructions on options of mounting. They also came with all sorts of straps and bungee cords. I know many of you have bought these and I was wondering what you found worked best for you. I have a 2002 VFR with stock exhaust.
Any help would be appreciated.

A recent issue of the UK magazine RIDE had an entire article on fitting these bags. Check Borders.
I just bought some Motopak GTS-90 bags, and am having problems with there being almost no mounting points on the VFR. I tried the bags out the other day and ended up with both straps connected to the rear footpeg mounts. That's not very stable at all.
I *almost* want to run the back two straps under the tail, but that seems too close to the muffler and/or road dirt.
I'll check back and see if anyone came up with anything else... blink.gif
Edited to add that after looking at the instructions, my bags have almost the exact same straps.
Did that article in RIDE use a VFR, or a different bike?

I have seen the instructions on the Oxford site. The problem is that they talk about 3 pairs of wide velcro straps, the center goes under the seat and the two outside straps go on top. Mine only has the two outside straps, no center strap. The bags were made that way. I am wondering if mine are an older model or something. I have written to oxford and am waiting to hear from them.

I would probably say to try and get the front strap under the seat and leave the back one out. Or the other way around. I would think *one* of them would go under. I haven't tried yet with mine, I'll do that this weekend, or maybe tomorrow.
Sorry about the confusion, there, sorty... Yes, those are the instructions for the 2004+ bags, which expand differently (and have a third strap...) You (and I soon, if reports are favourable) have the 2003 and before bags.
Did you ever get the mounting worked out? How do the bags work in conjunction with the mufflers, do they touch?
