Today I am installing the Honda hard bags for my VFR and also a silver GIVI top box color matched for the Burgman, should be fun. Next will be an accessory outlet for the VFR for an electric vest. The Burgman believe it or no already has a cigarette style accessory outlet and a goodly sized alternator for powering aux toys.
I hope you are a patient man. The panneir racks can be a bear to install. Like everyone rightly says, keep everything LOOSE until you have all the bolts in, then tighten them all up.
BTW, I hope you aren't using Givi's topcase rack because it will not fit with the Hnoda side racks. I know, I tried... :(

Thanks ever so much for reminding me to keep everything loose until I have all the bolts in, and then tighten them all up!
I am not using Givi's topcase rack with the VFR, that's for the Burgman, I just finished the Burg install and it looks and works like a charm, now on to the VFR :)

Hey Chumly, I recently installed bags also. I had a fender eliminator that I modified and reused. Not having to mess with all the oem fender stuff made the install go pretty easy. And if I want to remove the brackets I think it would take maybe 15mins.
I'm *very* happy with the bags. At first, I was like, no way, but now I think not having them you miss out on the touring part of the vfr. Which can be significant. I think you'll be happy with em.

Wax I just lucked out. I saw david silver spares had a couple sets on ebay. It was right after they started the auction and the starting bid was 325.00 us. I've watched new and used bags sell on ebay and knew that price wasn't gonna last.
So I went to their website and sure enough they had a price for em only 50 bucks more then the starting price on ebay. I bought em immediately. A few days later the ones on ebay sold for 500. So I got mine 125 cheaper then those. so the total for me was 530 delivered from the UK in perfect condition in 2 and a half days.
Basically, I think they wanted to move the 03 silver bags and were'nt sure of the demand here, so they low balled it. I was in the right place at the right time. I gotta tell ya, the bags are nice to have, really convenient. Hank
I was first introduced to the beauty of removable, lockable, waterproof hard luggage when I rented a R1100R with triple Givis. It was sweet.
My R1150GS was the first I owned with the hard bags and they became indispensable. The need for bags is what dictated my purchase, actually.
Futura - not enough dealer support FJ13 - too spendy ZZR - ugly-ass bags (givi/Corbin) FZ1 - actually my top choice, but again - ugly-ass bags (Givi) St11 - Meh. :sleep: VFR - great bag setup, beautiful bike after which I've lusted for years, great deal on a leftover 03 with bags. 6800 comfortable, exciting mi. and counting...
I did swear a lot re-installing the bags... PITA, but worth it. Make sure the bag-bracket's rear attach point installs forward of the fender bracket. It's tricky, just be patient. 'course, you're probably done by now... zzzz...
They'll hold a full-face or an aerostich 1-piece or whatever else you need.

RC Cycle Maple Ridge. But anyone could buy them for $600 / $700 Cdn. as I recall. They were blowing them out last year. You will find info on them here and the UK site. It was only Honda Canada for some reason.

Is that the Competition Works Fender Eliminator, or a different brand? How did you modify it? I have the bags but I haven't installed them yet, because I have the fender eliminator installed. Several people have told me you couldn't do both. I was looking to do this next weekend, so any help would be appreciated.

I sent you an email sparhawk, but just in case: not sure what brand mine is, didn't buy it myself. I bent the top piece 180 degrees, to make it look better, and sanded and painted it. Basically it's just some sheet metal with an appropriate hole for the license plate light, so I used it and drilled some holes to fit in the 'bracket' that comes with the hard bags.
