I have received my Joe Rocket blaster tank bag from ebay with no instructions. Here's the funny part....so please don't laugh :goof:
when you look at the bag, one side has the carry handle and the other side (closest to the triple clamp) has a nylon strap with a regular plastic clamp.....
my question is ... to what should I attach the nylon strap ? Does it go under the tank ? forgive me my ignorance ... it's my first tank bag and I don't want to play around beer.gif

Just loop the tether strap around the frame behind the triple clamp. Just make sure you put the strap UNDER any cables/hoses/brake lines as not to bind them while turning.
If the tank bag is magnetic, it should hold just fine without the strap. I have a Cortech tribag and it holds great with just the magnets. It hasn't even budged at 100+ speeds. :p
i currently don't use mine. it's a little long and until i've got it shortened (or some other better system) i'd prefer that it just peeled away from the bike if it's going to go. i'd rather lose the bag than have it dangle and run the risk of getting in the way of safely stopping the bike.
that having been said....my tank bag doesn't budge even at speeds around 120mph (tourmaster cortech mini-bag).
haven't gone any faster than that with the bag on yet, but i imagine it would stay put at even greater speeds.

I've got a Joe Rocket bag, not sure which one, it is big and unzips to make a smaller bag. Anyway, attaching and detaching the strap every time I get to work or leave is a pain in the a**, so I snugged the strap up as small as it will go and tuck the excess under the left flap of the tank bag. It holds just fine with the magnets only and even when it is very full!
If it is magnetic, make sure to clean off the bottom of the bag (magnets) every time you put it on the bike. I 've scratched the sh@# out of my tank by not doing this, It's amazing what those magnets will pick up!

Yup, whenever I take mine off, I fold the flaps up against the bag and they have a clip that holds them there, that way the bottom of the bag is protected if you set it down on anything.
Okay, here's a twist. I don't like the handle to the tank bag towards me. I turn the bag around and have the exterior pocket towards me. That's where I carry my wallet and cell phone. That way they are both accessible quickly during my ride. I had a friend modify the strap so both sides will accept the male end of a buckle and then I put on a longer strap. It will go under my subframe under my seat. I have never used the strap though and I have had both bags loaded with clothes. Good Luck.
Using the strap is smart no matter how strong the magnets are on your bag.....
I wouldn't want to see one of you get hit by the bag at 100+ m.p.h...... That could knock you right off your bike...... All it takes is a good strong cross wind.....
It's happened before, and will happen again......
Use the strap~!!!
