Niagara On The Lake - Back Roads

I am thinking of taking a back roads trip (new rider hehehe) to Niagara on the lake from downtown Toronto. Any of you guys wanna come ? I don't bite, promise.

Is this ride going to happen? I can bring more guys and guys that know the back roads in this area if your looking for more to ride with. I kinda like hte idea of a VFR only ride though.

What day are you planning? I'm in Waterdown (close to Burlington), and would like to join in the fun.

My new (to me) 84 VF750F needs a good wringing out!

Im heading over to the niagara region right now from newmarket !!!!! Burlington skyway here i come goofy.gif Will be there for a few days, will keep a watch here if things heat up for a ride in the area beer.gif

I'm interested as well. I've done most of the 36 Mi trek several times - it is a great run. I always seem to end up at the FallsView Casino or get side-tracked to one of the strip clubs smile.gif Unfortunately it is going to rain this weekend so I'm not sure what date/time you had in mind.

When are you all going? Saturday is not good for me but can make on Sunday this weekend (or any weekenight). Besides, its supposed to rain on Saturday. I'm in Clarence, NY. Suburb of Buffalo. RLampke, think I saw you on Sheridan a while go. Spotted a nice looking silver VFR... looks good.

I'm booked this weekend also and again they are predicting a rain-out for most of the weekend. Next weekend or weekday - or anytime thereafter is good. I just need a few days notice to make arrangements as I'm sure most others do as well. I think this run would be a nice early-morning get together either on a weekday or Sat-Sun.

Blue Orbit: As I've only seen one other VFR around here [That was from Canada no less] It just might have been me. Thanks for the complement and it was good to meet you - hope to get together soon. beer.gif

Wow, I can't believe the response. This forum is amazing. Let me see if I can plan this out tonight and give you guys a meeting point and we can go from there.

Next weekend works better for me. In less Sat. clears up weather wise I can make the bridge around noon after I get a event I have all ready planed out of the way. Sunday looks like a all day on the ATV if any of you guys want to join us with a ATV or dirt bike. We are going to ride from my house and hang around all day.

Joe, we can try and work it for next weekend but might be tough cause the parents are visiting and I will have to hang with them. Will let you know how this come together.

I also may be able to di it next Friday since I've taken every Friday off this summer so far. But that only a possible date I can make if I'm not busy at work.

Next weekend is good for me also, or the Friday works well. It would be nice to take a day off of work and go riding - if the weather is good.

There is a good chance I can make it. I'll keep watcing for the meeting place/time.

Joe K - I don't mean to jack your thread, but how does this Friday, August 25th - like 8:30 am sound to you all..? Or is the weekend better...? As I have some days to kill, Friday seems to be a good day - plus the bridge traffic for those of us crossing will be light and the weather so far looks good. Summer is winding down and I'd like to get some good riding in.

Is this a good time or something else...?

I'd prefer the Saturday over the Friday as I am getting in from a work trip to the states on Friday afternoon, but I'm only one guy.

I can meet up with those not from the area and take you on a decent back road ride to get there.
I'm up in Cambridge, but could meets down in Waterdown or Burlington area.

If there is a vote, I vote for Saturday early morning.

I'd like to do this for all the usual reasons (summer ending...meet new folks etc.) but I also have to meet RLampke...given that I'm an RLambke.

I just rode the Niagara Parkway from Port Dalhousie to Fort Erie this past saturday. Nice road but with a posted limit of 60 km/hr painfully slow. Did wick it up in a few sweepers however wheel.gif Nice view of the mighty Niagara though beer.gif Very Scenic fing02.gif

Yes, this is a slow ride - but like you said it is scenic. Besides, I'll be taking the QEW 405 from the Peace Bridge to get there, and that is always the rocket road.

I'm ready, if a time and place is set up. May even work out for Friday if I don't have other things happen. The way it looks for me though Sat may be best ...but I'm flexible.

Ok, here is my offer for this trip:

Saturday, August 26th @ 8:30 am.

What I will do is depending on who is attending; I will setup meeting places for us in WNY and Canada - where we will begin the trip. The weather looks warm and partly sunny w/no rain in the forecast.

Please let me know by the end of the day on Thursday so I can make arrangements and communicate these out to everyone that is attending.

If possible why not have meeting spots for the guys comming form the north in the north and one in the south for guys like myself to meet and we could ride to a central location like Niagara on the Lake for lunch and ride form thier together. I would lead the south group from the Peace Bridge up the Niagara Park Way and we could meet like at the Jet Boats in Niagara on the Lake for a idea. I have to get to work know but If needed this is my cell # 716-863-7715 if anyone needs to contact me or try to work out some details. I do have voice mail if I don't pick up just let it ring allot of rings...I may be busy.

That's actually what I had in mind. People in WNY would meet @ [x] and people from Canada would meet @[y] - [y] is where we would all meet and begin the trip.

I'm flexible on the time but the morning is better for me.

FYI RLampke if I haven't mentioned it. I grew up in Lancaster (Cayuga Ave) and still work in and around sevral times a week,mostly in the schools (I fix mach's)

Ok so lets figure this out. What day works for everyone here ? I think a Saturday would be best either way. But which day and lets just do it.

Looks like Saturday will work for most of us. May I suggest jimmer and JoeK (as always, others welcome), meet in Waterdown or Burlington and enjoy robertV19's route as he suggested. Those coming from the south can meet us at the Jet Boats as suggested by JF from B. Now, robertV19, I need a time and place to meet you fellows.

Where we going to meet the US folk ? You guys want to meet us at Niagara on the Lake ?

Lets try this. Guys that want to meet with me from the WNY area at the Peace Bridge lets say 9:00am at the USA duty free on the USA side. We will then ride up the Niagra Parkway to Niagra on the Lake (stopping a couple times to take in the sights if wanted. Arive at Niagara on the Lake @ the Jet boats I would guess 11:00 latest. Meet up with guys from the North and eat lunch in the area after getting to know each other then leave around noon/1:00pm (if some one knows a place we can just meet to eat around the Jet Boats who ever arives first can start to eat Please mention the exact location/this way we cabn save time on waiting for every one to arive and eat) then for a couple hours or late in to the night (which I'm ok with) around the area or hang out on Cliften (sp?) Hill (local biker hang out,thats safe and lots of fun) after we ride for a couple hours and eat dinner if others want to. Does anyone have a route planed out after lunch? Anyone want to make another plan? I'm all ears and very flexible. I've been on all the roads in this area many times ....but I can't link them together or remember how to get to them so I can't be the one to lead the ride after we meet up.

Oh my plan is for Saturday to be clear.
