Tankbag bothering

I can't make up my mind to buy eh tankbag because I'm affraid it will bother my driving and sight (???).

You don't even touch a tank bag unless you get one of those huge bags you could fit a week's worth of clothes in.  If you keep it simple, bag size =/< 20 litres, you'll have no worries.  No, they do not block your sight of the guages either.  Unless of course you have the stature of Mini Me.

It's gotten to the point where I can't ride without my tank bag.  It gives me a place to rest a little weight to relieve my arms.  If you wish to get down behind the windscreen...well, forget it or buy a gsxr.  : wink.gif :

I have to agree that most tank bags are no distraction at all, unless you eye the map in the map pocket at the wrong time.  That little feature is real handy when you take an excursion outside your known haunts.  In addition, tools, sunglasses et al are much easier to access once you stop.  The magnetic bags hold securely but slip off in one motion to allow quick refueling.  A win-win in my experience.

Mine stays put nicely, no problems with carrying the digital camera (i.e. photo / data loss). Have not tried this much though. Some members carry laptops in magnetic bags, so seems like no big deal. Great way to carry a few necessities.  :twist:

I once thought the same as you gilligan and I bought a tail bag. Although my tail bag was useful I found myselfworrying about it and always checking it. I finally bought a tank bag and now I won't go back. Just be sure and get the right size bag. I bought mine in a rush and now have to look for another so I can fit my laptop in it.

Anyone have a tank bag that fits a laptop nicely?

I sure like my Chase Harper Sport Tour magnetic. �It's expandable, doesn't interfere with or obscure anything, and doesn't have the "wings", but stays put--though I can confirm that only to 140 indicated. �Won't go anywhere without it.

I have had this bike for a year next month. The guy I bought it from gave me a set of rear saddle bags and a tank bag (both from Wolfman, made here in Colorado.) I had the same point of view even though I had never used them until last month. To me, a day pack and a bungee cord made more sense. Now I'm a tanker for sure and also used the rear bags again today. See ya Mr. back pack! The cycle bags are easier and much more secure. I no longer have to worry about my pack sliding around behind me or bailing without me knowing.

I've just bought a tankbag and it's true that it is not bothering at all.

My dealer recommanded a red one (same as my VFR) and I don't see it at all while driving.

It will be perfect for my week-end trips.

I have in mind to buy saddlebags and brackets that I will install and remove for long trips (summer holidays).

Like a couple of you I opted for a red tank bag (mine is an Oxford Humpback).  After a year in the sun I have a pink tank bag.  Is there a way to restore the color without tinting the map window?  I supppose the black ones turn gray, but that sounds better than pink.  Whatever!

Quick question?  What is the best cleaner for the tank?  I have a white bike  :ghostface: and it's get's a little dirty with the magnetic bag... thanks

I bought an Oxford tank bag and it rocks. The saddlebags are Revpack and fit the VFR perfectly...and are 100% waterproof.

I just bought an Oxford Sport tank bag about a month ago. I have no complaints about it. It's expandable with enough room to fit clothing for a weekend trip. They offer many colors, I got the silver one and it actually matches the bike pretty close.
