i'm thinking of getting soft saddle bags for me 2003. will the pipes burn them because of the close proximity, will they touch? if so, is there some kinda shield to deflect heat? anyone know how fast me motobike goes in each of the first four gears? would someone check that out for me? i'd really appreciate it.
I have the tour master cortech series saddlebags and top bag. I love them both. The only problem is that I can't use the rear mounts on the saddle bags because they get in the way of the exhaust. But, I did a 250 mile trip with them disconnected and didn't run into any problems. The whole setup was less than $200 if I remember correctly. There is a good review of them on www.sport-touring.net.
For about $275, you can get a set of GIVI E21's (hard bags)and PL166 mounts. About 6 bolts to remove if you don't want them on all the time. Makes a pretty good alternative to a set of $200 soft bags. Lockable & waterproof too!
I've got two sets of those soft luggage and found there worthless. Did you want them? Every time I rode I would duck tape the body work only to find traveling at speed they would vibrate and wear holes in the bags and if I missed taping some body work they would scratch. And once you go thru the rain ..well I should say..but hard bags are the only way to go. especially if you have valuables . just a thought, Moto Saipian
