I've got a 2002 VFR with a Staintunes exhaust and I'm wanting to get some side bags for it.
I don't really want to drop $1k for the Honda bags and I don't like the looks of the Givi's...(too wide).
I noticed that David Silver Spares in the UK has some 2005 bags for ~175 pounds which is a little bit over $300.
Will they fit on a 2002? Has anyone tried it?
I figure I'll need to do a little fabrication (I don't have a rear fender/plate area)...but other than that?
Any advice/help would be appreciated...

Rob, assuming that the 2002 model is a VTEC, and that the bags come with the complete mounting kit, AFAIK it should all fit perfectly without any real modifications at all. There were no changes in the mounting system between 2002 VTEC and 2005 VTEC models...
The price @ D.S.S. does include everything. Shipping is steep but still a good deal. Color with be off a few shades -02 vs. 05.
I did this last year. Took less than a week to receive the bags from England. With shipping, I think it came to around $650. Color is definitely off, but functionally, the 05 and 02 bags are identical. If I had to do it again, I would have sprung for the top box as well. The hardbags are great for holding a lot of stuff, but my laptop does not fit. The top box is better for commuting and the side bags are better for weekend excursions when you don't want your bike to handle like a top-heavy pig. Use all three bags and start your own delivery service. :P
