I have a GIVI Wingrack that I don't keep on the bike when not traveling. A friend let me borrow a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady to try out. I thought it was OK to ride. I've owned other Corbins and like the firmness. On the other ahnd, I've not really had a major prob with the stock seat. I just put on the GIVI Wing Rack to get ready for my vaca trip, and decided to put the Corbin on since it's still sitting in my garage. It won't fit with the Wing Rack on. The passenger part of the seat pan is lower than the stock, so it hits part of the rack. The part that attatches in the grab handle mounts. Anybody else have this conflict? Do the Sargent seats fit better with GIVI Wing Racks? ~Kev '99 VFR800FI Sunny So. Fla.
I just ran into the same problem with a Monorack I just purchased and my Corbin. I'm thinking a trip to a friend with a bench grinder to modify the Monorack is the way to go.
Kind of sucks. I was planning to use my rack and topcase today. :shake:
Well, I now have a garage with a workbench, and one of my first purchases was a bench grinder. For those who wish to use an old-style Givi Monorack with a Corbin saddle, it is possible to modify the rack mounts enough so the seat clears them.
I ground about 1/4 of the steel on the upper rear part of each mounting plate using creative angles with the bench grinder. I tested and re-fit until the brackets on both sides fit without interference from the seat. I followed this with some filing to smooth the rough edges, and a couple of shots of flat black Krylon. Looks almost factory. beer.gif

From the previous posts, it looks as though the Wingracks aren't compatible with the Corbin gunfighter seat. I have a '99 viffer that I'd like to add luggage to. Can anyone confirm if the Givi tubular racks will work with the Corbin? Will the tubulars hold up as well as the wingracks?
I have the tubular racks but have a modified stock seat. It's very similar to a Sargent though. I only have 15000 miles so far but the racks have been fine. I don't carry anvils though.

Which Givi luggage do you own and what size? I've been wondering what the ideal capacity per side is without weighing down the rear too much.
Just a note on the 6th gen - my gunfighter/lady works with my wingrack II, but i can't run a top case and the lady's backrest at the same time. this isn't much of a problem, as the top case is a fine backrest if I'm running two up, but removing the corbin back rest can be a pain.

The Givis WILL work with the corbin seat. I used a bench grinder on my rack and after I touched it up with some black paint it has all the looks of factory goodness. Was it fun? Not particularly...but I now have my cake and can eat it to.
After you make the changes to the rack use the loop side of self adhesive Velcro to protect the seat. The Givi rack will destroy a Corbin as you and your passenger shift around while riding.

Been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post and thought I could chime in on this one.
I have a corbin and a wingrack on my '99. I gound down the rack's oval verical support that is under the seat. I didn't want to trim it too much so I shimmed the latching loop on the seat with 2-3 washers and then cut some plastic cutting board material and afixed it to the cross support on either side of the latch so the seat's 'bumpers' had something to rest on.
The seat sits up about 1/3" higher, but it clears the rack and is stable.
