OEM Hardbags Purchase

Well I know there is a raffle on for these, but with my luck I decided to take the plunge and order up a set of OEM hard bags for my 02. I was desparate for the storage space. Freezing in the morning and frying in the afternoon seems to be the norm for temps here in Colorado lately. I had to have someplace to put all my extra clothing for the ride home from work. I ordered from Service Honda and total with shipping came to $815 dollars. The cheapest I could find them locally was over $900 to $1000 plus tax... The fun budget is out of commission for a LONG time I'm afraid... :shake:

Enjoy! I got a set about a year ago which allows me to ride to the train station (that's how I commute to work) and store all my gear in the bags. �Really worth the money.

My bags showed up yesterday! I had to carefully install them as I am nursing a sore back. All in all the install wasn't to bad. It got a little fiddley back at the license plate area but I managed. I love them on the bike. Good solid mounts and I think I can trust the lock to keep them closed and on the bike. After a few attempts I got them figured out. They come with 6 keys and an extra lock. I think the manufacturer assumed you would also buy the top box at the same time and use the extra lock set for it. How long does it take before you stop checking your mirrors to see if they are still with you? I remember a post where someone lost a bag on the highway... :doh:  I don't think I will be removing the hardware very often. It looks fine without the bags anyway. Swinging a leg over the bike was not as bad as I thought with them on. Trying it with a sore back was another deal all together! I will "step through" the seat for awhile. If you haven't purchased a raffle ticket for the hardbags yet, DO IT! These are a great addition to the VFR's

If you get a chance wrap the lower bars of the mount in 3M (or similar) protective plastic, it will keep the bags from wearing the paint off the mounts metal bars.

Pretty minor design glitch for bags this nice...  storage way better than on my beemer to boot.

Thanks for the tip, I also want to find some bulk 3M for the front of the bags as well. These look like they will catch every stone that gets kicked up.
