I am busy catching up on some chores I missed out on while playing all weekend(like cleaning the chimney & the stove, moving some furniture, etc) - but wanted to give some space to those of you that made it home already, so you can post your pics here. Stories too, if you want! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)

Gotta go unload the snowblower my Dad just gave me, and get a little roasty goodness going in the ole' woodstove, then, it's picture-postin time... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)

K, here we go:

Meeting up with ss burns, his buddy Jim(Achmed), PoconoVFR, Peto, and Mr FlatBlack himself - Timmythecop!

Peto had been admiring Timmy's german police getup, and just had to show off how well his BMW hot weather gear matched his BMW riding suit:
(IMG:http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/SEBSPEED2003/2008%20RIDES/Fall%20Catskills%20Ride%2008/Petoshotweathergear.jpg)

We had a great hangout spot with a fire pit and ping pong table, and plenty of beer to go around. Mmm... Octoberfest...

How do you spell that again? lalalalalalalalalalalalalla!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Jim had us in stitches with his Achmed impersonations while we had our Flaf signing
(IMG:http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/SEBSPEED2003/2008%20RIDES/Fall%20Catskills%20Ride%2008/Howdoyouspellthatagain.jpg)

Jim signs the Flaf while Pat picks his spot carefully...
(IMG:http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/SEBSPEED2003/2008%20RIDES/Fall%20Catskills%20Ride%2008/JimsignstheFlaf.jpg)

More Flaf shots coming.

One for Skuuter - just in case he changes his mind...
(IMG:http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a49/SEBSPEED2003/2008%20RIDES/Fall%20Catskills%20Ride%2008/Skuutershot.jpg)

PoconoVFR got a special prize - but I'll let him share... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Early Saturday morning, 34 degrees!
(IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/motorhead1977/3rd%20Annual%20Catskills%20Fall%20Ride/DSC00537-1.jpg)

At the overlook before heading out for the days festivities!
(IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/motorhead1977/3rd%20Annual%20Catskills%20Fall%20Ride/DSC00544.jpg)

Another view.
(IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/motorhead1977/3rd%20Annual%20Catskills%20Fall%20Ride/DSC00546.jpg)

Every Generation VFR was there.
(IMG:http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/motorhead1977/3rd%20Annual%20Catskills%20Fall%20Ride/DSC00539-1.jpg)

All had a good time. There were a couple of mishaps, but no one was hurt. Parts can be replaced - Stoopid Deer! Thanks for all the organizing work Seb. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif) And "Sgt Slaughter" was just some added local color. Hey Timmy, PBR me.

Many Thanks Seb! Great job putting this one together.

Triple occupancy rooms at $49/night right in the heart of very sweet riding... not to mention a pile of firewood & a gallon of girl scout water to make our own smoke filled pavillion! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't live it!

Traffic to Central Mass this am was a bit heavy in spots but we made decent time. I was home in time for my kid's soccer game so I earned back a few brownie points today! Still a few more to aquire before I can take another weekend away but it's a start!

Nice meeting you all. Hope everyone made it home safe & to do it again!

GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Oh well maybe next time.

Hey Sebastian, got home super fast (I was following Anthony (IMG:style_emoticons/default/squid.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/squid.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/squid.gif) ). You did a great job organizing the rides and getting us to some awesome roads. I cant wait to come up again! Next time I will dress warmer!! And I think deer are attracted to the sweet sound of V4 engine so everyone you have been warned. It was grea to meet so many people from the board and our friends from Canada.

Had a great time. Nice clean pavement. Couldn't ask for a better group of people. I hope to ride with you all again.

Thanks again Seb!

Friday, October 3, 2008: My plan was to go to work, get home around 3:00, finish prepping my VFR and wait for the other guys to show up. The "Patriot Division" of the VFRd Railers was to include, twox48 (Tom), and bliss (Bryan). They met up with me at my house and we left from there together to head to Langes Grove Side Resort. The ride there was pretty uneventful, as we took I-90 across western Massachusetts to exit 2. We traveled through Stockbridge and Great Barrington, MA to RT23 which took us over the New York border. The view from the Rip Van Winkle bridge as the sun was setting was amazing! If I could have stopped to take a picture without getting killed, I would have!

We arrived at Langes, checked in and rode around back where a few other people were happy to meet us and welcome us. Some were old friends, but most were new friends. The rooms were "classically" styled and nice and cozy after a chilly ride in the 40's (F). The rates were very affordable for all of the outside gathering amenities that were available. There was also a very nice little brook located behind the rooms.

(IMG:http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/uploads/1223258273/gallery_7184_4200_539387.jpg)
IMG_1193.JPG

I watched as bike after bike rolled in and parked for the night creating a nice line of VFR's (and a couple others) in front of the room.

The highlight of the night was when a camouflaged Army Sargent showed up with a gallon of gasoline in his hand and said, "How you doin? I'm the owner of this place and just got back from training. I've got some wood and gasoline to help you guys start a fire.""Sarge" was quite a character and was telling us how he just took over the hotel.
(IMG:http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/uploads/1222864519/gallery_7184_4200_206716.jpg)
IMG_1186.JPG

I could tell that this was going to be one heck of a weekend when the hotel owner is giving you gasoline and fire! The rest of the night was all about meeting each other, kicking tires and tossing back a few wobbly pops. Timmy's Sasquatch encounter was another highlight. I swear... I don't think I've laughed and smiled that long in a while. You guys had me nearly drooling I was laughing so much at times at some of the stories.

woke up before the alarm and was already packed, so the first hurdle was overcome. Pien joined me for coffee on the portch and then I was off.
(IMG:http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm313/timmythecop/caskills041.jpg)
No problems finding my way to Allentown, but I had to stop for this picture since Pien is bonafide Dutch.
(IMG:http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm313/timmythecop/caskills039.jpg)
I was actually 90 minutes early to our waypoint (its a cop thing) so I parked here and actually took a good nap in the grass behind the yellow peril. I used the green outhouse in the backround and while doing so, I picked up a feather on the ground. I absent-mindedly stuck it between my plastic and windscreen, and it is still there! It never gave up, even at speeds approaching 300 miles per hour

The boys showed up at exactly the stroke of noon, and we were off. Left, right, up, down, pretzle shaped, u-turn and more right, left. I was thinking "man, that RWB paint scheme is quite possibly faster than flat black". We noticed we had too much fun and were getting late, so we went somewhere near where the settlers are still lost on our way to Port Jervis. And then it happened. I'm going along listening to Lush in my speakers and I see it. It was 11 feet tall if it was an inch. Black as midnight, ugly. He came across the road, grabbed his package and said "uga-booga". I think he was drawn to the flat black because his eyes met the yellow peril's eyes and a challange was offered. After I pooped the green suit of justice, sasquatch had enough and ran up a vertical rock face, shaking his fist at me and waving his package. We were near here. The angle is because I am on the groung recovering.

We found Peto and his motorcycle equivalent of Kit from night rider. Off to meet Seb and a long ride to Stewarts. We are finally with Seb and he takes us the "fun" way to the motel. I say "fun" because at first I was having a great time. Then the night fell and I think Seb increased the pace exponetially quicker as it got darker. Now I am not the fastest fella around in the day, but I cannot see my hand in front of my face at night and my contact lens is 6 months old, so I was sure that I was going to die. I figured that when you die, you dont see white lights, you see a glowing orb of red, rapidly getting smaller. Somehow, buy shear happenstance, I infact survived the hell-ride, despite Seb's intent on killing me. We got to the resort and had beer and pizza.

I behaved and was quiet. I think I was the first in bed. Speaking of bed, the Sarge knew his VFRs and put the Fifth Gens in a separate wing.

Sleep was good except Peto is so skinny, I couldnt tell if he was in bed or if the blanket had a lump in it. Great riding except the international deer incident of '08. (I will let someone else go into details) I was very happy that I wasnt needed to shoot the deer to put it out of it's misery, as the VFR took care of that. The deer wasnt on the ground for 5 mins, before the fireman took her home.

Back to the motel and I was an example of reserved gentlemanly behavior.

Then we were all so pooped from the brandy and cigars, it was off for home in each direction. Even though I wasnt the farthest away, I do think I got home last.

Great job, looks like everyone had a great time (and drank a lot of beer)! Good turnout, looks like one of shaynej's SoCal rides, only without the warm weather! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/goofy.gif)
