It's supposed to be open by Spring 2009, and STT has tenatively scheduled the first track days for April 11th and 12th. This is only about an hour from my home! The shots from the air make the track look flat, but according to someone who visited the construction site, there are a good bit of elevation changes. I love doing track days on my 2007 CBR 600RR, and having a track this close is like having the heroin dealer move in next door to the junkie!!
can you give me a nearest town so i can google the distance from nashvegas? always looking for something closer then 4 hours and not so hot. looks like a pretty long straight there (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
a new track in Kentucky? That's sweet. It looks like for the next family trip, I'll have to do a track day and get my fill on the dragon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)

I'm really excited about this new track as well... I hope it stays on time... When they redid little Talladega a couple of years ago, it was about 2 months beyond it's schedule... Barber was about a year later than planned (although it was repaved to be perfect... ) Thus, I'm not planning on scheduling that STT weekend until about... april.
I like the general idea of the place. Similar to the track up by Chicago that caters to clubs, DE's, etc. If it were within an hour, I'd seriously consider buying a membership.
Looks like a really nice design, but.................. a race track in Kentucky and it is not an oval? Seriously, those NASCAR guys will have to practice up on braking hard, down shifting and then those pesky right turns! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Wish I had a track closer to here. For sport I have to go over to the State Capitol buildings and watch the legislators scramble about trying to appear to be doing something.

Fantastic pics...thanks for posting.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fing02.gif)
I had ridden by there a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't get past the gate... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
BTW, where'd you find the info about the STT dates???

sweet! that is the same distance as TALLY GP for me.....should give me another option when it is 100+ w/ 90% humidity in the deep south! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)
I say HALT CONSTRUCTION NOW!!! Leave it as is and open it up as a super motard track. That does in fact look like a looong straight section. Throw in some whoops in the section that heads up into the trees and call her done!
If you look closely at the pictures there appears to be a spot where they may put in a chicane on the long straight, just past the concrete pad.
I hope that is the plan. I am not a big fan of high speeds. Mid Ohio has a long back straight, and on my first track day there it took me a few laps before I would keep the throttle pinned right up to the braking point. I guess that is one of the reasons I like Barber so well as there are no long straights.

QUOTE (Baketech @ Nov 10 2008, 10:36 AM) What the direction...CW or CCW? Almost certainly CW with the pits where they are. That looks like a fun layout! We're pretty fired up in the Denver area too with High Plains Raceway coming online next year: (IMG: http://eclipse.host-care.com/~teamterr/hpr/images/Mercer-10-8-08--2-Plain-web.jpg ) This video shows the elevation changes better: The asphalt is down and the first races have taken place: (IMG: http://eclipse.host-care.com/~teamterr/hpr/images/Oct.19-06-web.jpg ) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/goofy.gif ) Dirk

dont cha know it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) speaking of long straightaways.....look at BR's avatar (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
Yeah, I'm chomping at the bit. Should save quite a bit of time and travel. The new track is only 40 miles from my house (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Did 6 track days at Barber this year and 2 at Mid Ohio. That was a bunch of driving and camping in the trailer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I agree! They are just down the road from the Speedway. Even though this is in KY, it is is closer to Cincinnati than any southern city. I'm about 50 miles from Bluegrass in Louisville and I think it is only 20 minutes or something like that from downtown Cinci. It's in the north and south.
