Oxford tankbag.

What do you guys think about the Oxford tankbag-tailbag?.
I've seen pics of them in a report on Ride ( not Rider ) magazine last year, and love the design and finish.

I have a Tourmaster Tri-bag but only use the upper part since the lower part is too long IMO and find the shape intrusive when riding the twisties.

I have the Oxford Tankbag and I love mine. I think it is well constructed, expandable, stays put with the magnets and has not scratched my tank. I use the little pouch on the front for keys and keep my map in the clear pocket.

My riding buddy is looking for an Oxford now that he has seen mine.

I have an Oxford tankbag also and have absolutly no complaints about it.  I got the silver one and it matches the color of my bike pretty well.

I have a black one. Have put around 8000 miles on with it and i'm very pleased. Does not scratch paint. Can be expanded or broken down to just a flat map pocket.
Got mine about a year ago at The Lockitt Company - 508-747-6546. Mine is the lg640-ox, paid 129.95.

I got mine from tailofthedragon roughly 125.00 USD & shipping I really like mine and a feature you may not know about is that it zips off of the tank magnet base and can be put on a base for the tailsection also. I don't know if this was said but mine is the humpback style which I really like.
 Although I did see another manufacturer with something similar for a lot cheaper, I think that it was Cortech, you might want to look into it also.
 By the way both manufacturers I believe had saddlebags, tankbags and tailbags that matched. Good luck whatever you decide.

I also have an Oxford tankbag. Absolutely no complaints about it. �Plus I got the silver one to match my bike. It was a little expensive, but I think worth it.

I got an Oxford Humpback tailbag for Xmas and am very happy with it. I then ordered the tail to tank bag(magnetic) conversion kit so that I can use it either way.
I don't think that you will find that it's too big(I have the Tri bag kit too) as it's much more "sleek and contoured" than the Tourmaster. I will use mine mostly as a tailbag but will switch it to a tank bag for trips and use the Tourmaster tail bag on the back end as it's larger for traveling.

I did modify the mounting system for the tail bag version so that I have nothing at all touching the cowl....no bungies etc.
I use snaps mounted to the bottom of the seat pan and made straps for the Humpback that attach to the four "D" type rings on the bags sides, and then run under the seat and snap in there. Bag is attached to the seat only, not across the cowl or any body work.

Basically. I'd say it's a useful, good looking, and versatile bag wheel.gif

I have an Oxford tankbag and it's incredibly well designed and manufactured. They're not cheap but they're well worth it.

When I got my Humpback tail bag for Xmas, it came with a CD rom about the products and about mounting safely etc..
The instruction book also is fairly detailed concerning safe mounting.
As mentioned above, I don't use their standard mounting system with bungies, but if one does it seems like it's basically a common sense type thing with guidance from the instructions.

I got the tailbag, not the tank bag. I forgot that there was a price difference between the two. Sounds like your other deal is better depending on shipping and maybe what's in stock.

I have Oxford sidebags, The front buckle came off, one of the quick release buckles broke and the nylon strap started to unravel. �I dont trust tailbags either, they have a propensity to come off and get lodged into the rear wheel, locking up the wheel and tossing the rider. �

Scroll up for the link posted about the UK cases. �One of the Members of Sport-Touring.Net had a crash when her rear bag slipped off the back of her seat and got caught in the rear tire. �She was pulling a wheelie so I guess she is partially at fault but the damn thing should have stayed put. �I wouldnt buy a rear bag unless it was rock solid.

After that, I'll get the Rocket Locker tail bag if additional space needed.

I have and Oxford Expandable tankbag, and love it. It's actually 3 bags in one. Use just the bottom section for rides around town, just the upper bag for daytrips, or zip them together for overnighters. The magnetic base zips off and fits on either bag. Doesn't scratch paint, and have never had a problem with anything on the bags,zippers etc....

Has anyone seen or used the Oxford Sprint tankbag?

I'm currently using a Joe Rocket Blaster Tankbag for commuting and short trips. �My main problem with it is the flaps that contain the magnets don't fit the '02's tank profile very well. �They're too short to wrap over the edge of the tank and grab onto the sides, which leaves the magnets right at the edge of the top of the tank. �If I move the magnets up into their pockets, they grab better but it leaves the edge of the flaps unsecured. �As a result, they flop around in the wind and beat up my paint.

The Sprint has all of it's magnets in the base, which eliminates the flaps. �Seems like it would be a better solution than the Blaster. �Any thoughts?

I just came across RKA and they have a 16 liter color matching tank bag for my 98. You can get it in the magnet or 3 point fastened version. wheel.gif
Anyone familiar with this company?? they also have a set of 47 liter matching color graphic saddle bags, but I've heard they can come off and lodge in the rear wheel pitching the rider tongue.gif
