A view of Glencoe, by Robz

UK VFR Club trip to the Highlands and Islands of Bonnie Scottland. A beautiful part of the world, I'm sure you'll agree...

My Stats:
Total Distance: 529.25miles
Total Riding Time: 9h 55mins and 35seconds
Ave Speed: 53.31 Mph
Absoulute Maximum Speed: 120.9mph
Beer consumed: About 9pints + 2 drams

Next time, we will pre-plan petrol stops and RV points so we don't have the - ahem- "seperation problem" OTOH it was just as well because otherwise we would not have known about the traffic car.....

I really, really enjoyed some of the bendier sections. The bike didn't seem to stay upright for more than half a second for miles on end! I was also particularly proud of my "stuffing it up the inside of Joe" overtaking manouver coming out of Glen Sheil

I'm off on Hoiliday tonight for a couple of weeks so I expect this thread to have ten pages of good piccies when I come back. Get to it you lot!

P.S. I'm off to write out my lines now:

"I'm a father of three, I must not overtake on blind crests."
"I'm a father of three, I must not overtake on blind crests."
"I'm a father of three, I must not overtake on blind crests."
"I'm a father of three, I must not overtake on blind crests."

The RV in Queensferry
The Forth rail Bridge could easily be described as one of the most spectacular man-made landmarks in Scotland. It is a solid cantilever bridge and was opened by the (then) Prince of Wales formally on the 5th March 1890. It had taken just Eight years to build and had used 54,000 tonnes of steel, 194,000 tonnes of stone and concrete, 21,000 tonnes of cement and somewhere in the region of 7,000,000 rivets.

The bridge crosses the River Forth between South Queensferry and North Queensferry, and still carries the East Coast mainline railway north from Edinburgh to Perth and Dundee.

That's some nice land over there. I guess there is a tradeoff for nice weather. Nothing pretty like that here in So. Cal. Tumbleweeds anyone? :D

Man, glad I don't have to ride there. I suppose afterward someone would force me to down pints of some strange local brew too. Ohhhhh, noooooooooo!

actually, gorgeous pictures. I'll go back and look at them again late this morning (at work) just for my viewing enjoyment.

I really need to be there.
