From Soup... looks like DMG have really screwed the pooch. I can't see the AMA series improving with this development.

Torrance, CA: During the 2009 AMA/DMG Road Racing series, American Honda Motor Company, Inc. contracted team personnel, including team Honda rider Neil Hodgson, to the Corona Extra Honda race team.
Corona Extra Honda race team participated in this series with our award-winning 2009 CBR1000RR in the AMA Superbike class, unfortunately participation in this series did not meet our racing goals and objectives.
Regrettably the current AMA/DMG racing environment does not align with our company goals. Effective today 9/18/09, AHM will not be renewing contracts with Corona Extra Racing and will be terminating the on-site Road Race operations by 9/30/09. All assets will be put into storage for future consideration. Team staff was informed of these changes today at 1:00PM PDT.

That's too bad, all we hear now about AMA SBK series is bad news. I think it's time to close down the series and start a whole new one. The series just could not keep a good enough reputation to recover from this point.

Hmmmmm....Is this why sometimes a few tasty unobtainium HRC goodies that been kicking around on the garage floor might appear out there for use on a "civilian" bike project mysteriously. I guess it usually happens that in the haste to pack everything away, some stuff gets left behind or could not fit into the containers/trucks going back to HRC headquarters and are unofficially left to the staff to do what they want to. Must be interesting to hang around in the last days of packing up!
I think it's a good move! Look for the talented US riders in Moto2 next year, even though the 250 guys will still have a major advantage with track knowledge and language, World Supersport so see a few more Americans next year too. blush.gif
If DMG would just make all their races turn left only, I think they could figure this shitz out ! goofy.gif
And the latest? Numbnuts Roger 'Rabbit' Edmondson is envisioning a Harley 1200 category... ya sure you betcha - slap some apehangers on dem dere moorsickles and let's go racin'! In circles, natch...
Time for the manufacturers in the US to pick up the bits and start a new series, copy the WSBK book and hit play. It's amazing that racing in the US went from mildly dreadful to tits-up dead in one season... blink.gif
I can just envision DMG's new oval "asphalt dirt track" series for the Buell's and H-D's which will require mandatory billboard panels upon which to affix sponsor decals like 'Home Depot,' DeWalt,' M&M's,' U.S. Army,' 'DuPont,' and (lots of) others in 2010. What's ludicrous is to think that the "largest selling brand in this country" is actually able to compete under the "old" AMA racing rules. Ergo, the "new" DMG racing rules that preclude brands that a'int 'Amurican.' This is absurd...the DMG should be smacked up side the head for attempting to turn AMA road racing into NASCAR light. mad.gif No freakin' wonder Honda just pulled out of AMA competition.
It wouldn't surprise me if Mladin hung up the leathers because he knew what was coming.
Where does DMG think the next generation of US road racers to grace the world stage is going to come from? Canada? A Harley racer stepping up to WSB or MotoGP is about as likely as a NASCAR driver going to F1 (unless it's Ambrose of course fing02.gif )
Always has called a spade a spade, has "Reg" He grew up in Gouldburn in southern NSW and I got to know him in the late '70's when he was a struggling racer himself. Never would have believed that he would go on to international fame and fortune.
