Does anyone have any info, or even better yet, a picture of the mounting hardware for the Corbin Beetle Bags.(98-01) I'm wondering what the mounts look like when the bags aren't on the bike and how hard are the mounts to take on and off. Also, when eary are the bags to take on and off?

Thanks for any help / advice.

cyclescha,

The Corbin Beetle bags are not 'quick release' like Krauser or Givi which have mounting hardware that stays in place when the bags are released. The Corbin bags on my '98 are semi-permanent, removal requires more than flipping a latch and giving a tug, some healthy bolts fix them firmly in place.

Since I use at least some of the storage space on every ride for a flats kit, 1st aid kit, rain suit etc I've never considered removing them.

I have  beetles on my 98. Like VFR ATL stated they are not quick release.

But you can make them semi quick. I just remove the passenger footrest and take both units off as one assembly.
You just have to disconnect the seat lock cable and 2 bolts per side for the pegs and they slide off the back of the bike.

Takes about 1/2 hour to put them or take them off.

If the bike has a fender eliminator kit (i.e. the rear fender is gone) will the installation still work.  I checked the installation instructions and noticed that the last bracket is mounted to the fender.
