Need a cheap, waterproof box/bag

I'm looking for a waterproof bag or box to put on my seat during a long cruise. I was thinking of just getting a rubbermaid box and putting weather stripping on the top but want something a litlte more sturdy. It most likely will get used for one week long trip and then not much after that. Any ideas?

Do you want to put it on your passenger seat? Is so, I would recommend buying a dry bag from an outfitter store. You can strap the bag over your seat and your stuff will stay dry.It may not be as sturdy as you're looking for, but do the best of keeping your stuff dry outside of hard luggage. I have several that I use when I paddle, but I use my hard bags & trunk when I ride.

I was thinking of the dry bag idea. I want it as cheap as possible and idealy I'd like something hard. I was thinking of the rubbermaid waterproof 8 gallon box. It's basiclaly like a cooler. I'm hoping to drill a hole in the bottom to run my phone and gps chargers in there and then seal it up. I know there are better ways to go, but I only plan to use it for one trip and don't want to spend a lot of money. I figured I'd ask to see if anyone had any good creative ideas...

That looks good. I've had good results from whatever backpack I have available (in a garbage bag if it's rainy) and a cheap elastic cargo net. 6 hooks to strap to grab handles, saddlebag mounts, and license plate bracket and whatever bag you go with won't be going anywhere!

Waterproof and durable? How about a Pelican case or an OtterBox?

Pelican goods are often available at a good price at Cases4less, too.

Got this topbox from Sears for about $35, kept my stufff dry through a couple of rainstorms and stayed solid at speed.

i got a rubberized canvas rucksack from a surplus store. cheap and effective.

Cheap means ActionPacker to me. It works ..........I put one on my KLR.

I eventually took it off the bike as my mounting was not secure for off road pounding. I am working at a more secure setup. You can pick one up at REI or pick up the same thing at Wally World for less.

I use a compression rollup waterproof softbag now from Wolfman but it ain't cheap.
