Anyone have an aftermarket luggage rack mounted on a 5th generation VFR, hopefully with a Corbin GF&L seat?
What's your feedback on rigidity of mounting and general usefulness?
Been on a serious tour with it loaded?
Did you retain the OEM passanger grab handles?
Decent bungie attachments?

Krauser, Givi, 5 Star or whatever.
Not looking to add a topcase just a useful luggage rack to attach 'stuff' to.

You might want to look at the Ventura bike rack. I used one on a '96 VFR(rack only) and it worked great for attaching all my camping gear.

Currently, I have the Ventura sport rack on my Y2K VFR, and it too works just fine.

Have travelled extensively on both bikes and can highly recommend the Ventura rack, but I don't use bungies much. I prefer to use nylon, quick-connect straps to secure my gear.

The rack works well with my RKA saddle bags, but you lose your passenger grab handles.

The Givi top case mount works quite well and I have used it alone w/o the case on several day trips (for long trips I use the cases).  It replaces the factory grab handles but in a way, provides its own handles as the tubes reach around to the plate.  It's quite sturdy and well made.

Try the Renntek rack.  It hails from europe and cost about $100.  It bolts right into the grab handle holes.  Good luck

sparkydog21,

Thanks much, just what I was looking for.
Perfect fit, solid quality.
Importer is in Atlanta: http://www.revsperformance.com

Now I can carry some beer if I ever get stuck in that Dry-Hell-Hole Lubbock TX again. In fact I wrote a C&W song about spending a week in Lubbock one day.....
