Just got back from a 2520 mile trip on my VFR800A through CO, WY, MT, ID, and UT. Great trip and the VFR did great! I had a brand new set of Pirelli Angel ST's on it and I love the tires! They performed flawlessly.

So here is my bad attempt at a ride report:
Day 1: Strasburg, CO to Vernal, UT = 436 miles
Day 2: Vernal, UT to Rexburg, ID = 387 miles
Day 3: Rexburg, ID to Missoula, MT = 351 miles
Day 4: Missoula, MT to Ketchum, ID = 328 miles
Day 5: Ketchum, ID to Logan, UT = 363 miles
Day 6: Logan, UT to Steamboat Springs, CO = 449 miles
Day 7: Steamboat Springs, CO to Strasburg, CO = 206 miles
Total Trip = 2520 miles
Attached is a .pdf of my route from Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010.
Notes and Highlights:
1. Left with a brand new set of Pirelli Angel ST's on the bike and they performed flawlessly. Great tires!
2. Some of the best roads / legs of the trip were:
a. Vernal, UT to Mountain View, WY via 191, 44, 43, and 414. If you have never seen the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area you should at least once in your life!
b. Missoula, MT to Ketchum, ID via 93 and 75. Amazing ride along the Salmon river and kick ass roads for both 93 and 75. This was proabably the best leg of the trip.
c. 89 from Bear Lake, ID into Logan, UT. Lots of tight cornering through the Cache National forest into Logan, UT. This road is a workout! Logan, UT is a really nice city with spectacular views.
3. It hailed on me riding into Ketchum, ID.
4. It rained like hell on me riding into Steamboat Springs, CO. Frog choker!
5. Passed an unmarked CO State Trooper between Dinosaur, CO and Maybelle, CO with 93 mph on the speedo. I saw brake lights, but I just held my speed. Dude, it is the middle of nowhere! There was a marked State Trooper just outside of Craig, CO waiting on the side of the highway...maybe the first guy radioed ahead?? Who knows, but I passed him going 65 in a 65 and he did not follow. Whew!
6. Top speed of 134 mph in Idaho near Atomic City. I didn't know they could build roads that straight. I see why they are building all of the nuclear reactors out there. It is no man's land.
7. I was loading up my bike at the Double Tree hotel in Missoula, MT and this huge bus pulled in the parking lot and I was wondering how it was going to get back out. It was a tight parking lot and I was parked in the turnaround in front of the hotel. I had my first earplug in and was about to crank up when Lyle Lovett (from the big bus) walks up to me and starts telling me how much he likes my bike, my setup, and my riding gear. He is a Texas Aggie, like me, and we chatted for a few minutes about riding, etc. and I rolled.
8. The highest temp I saw on the ride was 91 degrees F and the lowest was 53 degrees F. Used the heated grips only once in the rain at 53F.
9. 14,053 miles on the 800.
10. I did the ride SOLO.
