Above the Clouds

Just perfect weather this weekend in East TN and West NC. Early morning picture taken from the Foothills on my way to Deals Gap for breakfast:

Got in a few passes before the crowds and then had a great lunch in Robbinsville with The Girl. After Lunch we headed over to an obscure lake in Joyce Kilmer National Forest that has a large open grass field and we took a nap at edge of the shade. My view of teh sky. 72 degrees and perfect sunshine...A good day:

Good thing I had the restricter Spud in my Staintune! Didn't wake you up :laugh:

Saw a 6th gen with Staintunes at the Gap. Met a guy from Knoxville with another 07 RWB who said he goes on VFRWorld but not VFRD. I noticed his centerstand was missing and he explained that he sheared the right hand bolt taking it off to install his LeoVince pipe. I made him frown when I told him there were recent warnings on VFRD saying that particular bolt is reversed thread. Doh!

Dude owns a bicycle shop too so he was kind of bummed due to his familiarity with reverse threads. Good guy, hope he finds a way to remove the threads. Told him to look on this site of course.

Cool thing about yesterday's ride was coming across an older gent on a near mint Suzuki 550 triple. Told him I loved the Indy from the first time I saw one. He was telling me it was not idling properly so I took a look as I spent many years tuning two strokes. Asked him about the CCI and he said it was functioning but he also mentioned he added premix "to be sure". I explained to him how he had created a lean condition by adding oil to the fuel and using the CCI. Said he was running 32:1 in the tank. Ouch! He was getting ready to adjust the carbs and I told him to keep riding and get some straight gas in the tank and his idle may come in line.

Had a lot of fun with 2 smokers back in the day.

Great cloud photo, kebrider! It's not easy for me to have the clouds under our feet if not flying an airplane.
Here is a place at the middle of Vietnam, but that time I was driving, not riding. The scene was just awesome:

Very nice VH. My shot was only at about 1500 feet and was really just the fog lifting up from the lake in the valley below. The Great Smoky Mountains in the background give depth.

Your photos look more tropical and the give the appearance of much higher elevation. Awesome shots.

Nice! Wish I had snapped a pic of the GT550. It was a well preserved red 73 model all stock, pipes and paint included. Felt like a kid in high school drooling over the unobtainable bike of the minute.

Yes, you are right. My photos were shot at about 1300 meter plus (4300ft) above the MSL. It is at middle of Vietnam, called Violac pass, on the National route #24.
