Subject: [ontvfr] VTEC Honda Luggage on Sale

I read on the Yahoo VTEC VFR list that Honda Canada is selling off sets of the hard luggage for the 02+ bikes at a mere $695.00.  The lister in this instance was in Saskatchewan. I haven't checked with a dealer to find out
if its true but if your interested you probably should do so quickly.

The list price is something like $1500.  I have no idea if this just the bags and you need to buy a rack extra or not. If its the whole thing it would be a tremendous deal.  If I didn't already have GIVI bags I would be very tempted. The lister claimed his dealer in, I think Moose Jaw, would be happy to ship bags.  A lot of the US listers were interested.

____
I can confirm that, I just ordered a set of bags from my local Honda dealer (Markham Outdoor Power). The bags are $695 and come with all the necessary hardware. The rear rack (required for the top box, but not the bags)  is $99, and the top box is $300 (I think). Hell-of-a deal compared to the original list price. Thanks for the tip.

The second of the posts quoted above came from me.  Just to confirm for you "Amerricuns" the prices quoted are in Canadian dollars. Multiply by .74 to get the corresponding price in US dollars.

NEOhioVFR, June 25 2004Thanks for tip! I just ordered a set from Markum.

Hey NEOhioVFR,

Can I ask how much shipping is???

Thanks...Imay be getting a set too!!!

Thanks!!!!

Never mind...I just ordered my set...should ship early next week!!!! My wife said I could get them for our anniversary...what a gift!!

Apparently Honda Canada has a warehouse full of OEM hard bags and wants to get rid of them, this is the reason for the sale. With shipping it costs a little over $600.

I got questioned on the phone of the discussion group. Daniel, the parts guy said he has already shipped out 2 sets today. One to Texas and one to Ohio.

I think this is a great deal. wheel.gif

Oh yeah...I ordered them from Markham Outdoor Power

I've tried two canadian dealers in BC today. They were very nice but were not aware of any sale. The trunk was 574cd.
That is more than my local stealer. I'll try the Markham
dealer tomorrow when they open.

Hey NEOhioVFR,

Have you received your bags from Markham yet?  I ordered mine last Friday and I havn't been notified if the bags have shipped yet.  I will call them on Friday to see what the status is.  I was just curious if you have received yours yet.

Thanks,

I emailed Markham twice when this thread started with questions about ordering them from across the border and they haven't responded.  Either they are having email trouble, or they are selling enough of them that they don't give a crap about some redneck from TN.  :shake:

Chumly, July 02 2004There is a problem here?
As per the Honda Canada web site the regular plain old MSRP is $ 695.99!
There is no list price something like $1500.
How can it be a tremendous deal?
Help, am I missing something?

http://www.honda.ca/MotorcycleEng/Accessor...00FI4&item=9382

I don't think there is a problem here. You lucky Canucks just get to buy this way marked up accessory stuff at much less than those of us in the U.S. It's just like prescription drugs.

Check out the U.S. list price at $1,000US for the hard bags.

Anything else you guys are getting up there on the cheap? biggrin.gif

Wow, based on that perhaps there is more cool pricing here at times.

Interesting, I emailed Action Honda and Jules Sale sent me back this response:

These bags are $695.00 canadian funds, painted, with all hardware.
There will be a substantial fright charge for those bags, i.e. $65.00 canadian from Honda to action-motorcycles, and approx $115.00 canadian from our store to you.

Please note that these bags usually retail for approx $1700.00 canadian, but are currently on sale, until stock has been depleted.

So it looks like you got a better shipping deal than what was given to me.  Of course, maybe if I actually ordered from them I'd get the same thing.  ???

I called Markham Outdoor Powersports today to check on my order and the message said they were closed from Thurs-Sun and will reopen Monday.

My shipping charge was only $49.80 and my total in US dollars is around $620.  I just hope I get them before I head to Mid-Ohio. ohmy.gif

Rambler-I just called Action honda this morning, and confirmed it would only be a little less than $50 for shipping via Fed Ex. I talked to Doug previously, I told him you talked to jules, he said he never heard of him? He said he shipped out three sets this week, and they all cost $50, he said anything more than that and HE would eat the shipping costs. These guys are real friendly, I would recommend for anyone to give them a try. actionhonda.ca

Hi,

I ordered mine early Friday, and picked them up Monday from Markham Outdoor Power.

The installation instructions call for a 12 mm drill bit to enlarge 2 sets of holes. I couldn't locate a 12 mm bit, but i did find a 31/32 bit (12.3 mm) that worked fine.

I order this "Screamin Deal" on the 30th of June. Still haven't Gotten the bags. Am gonna end up spending $700 US by the time I'm said and done. $515 for the bags 48 x 2 for CDN TAX's?????? (Can any one explaine this to me??) and roughly $50 for shipping and another $50 for brokorage fees trough FEd Ex. I'm not to sure if this is such a smokin deal. You wait three week to save 70 to 80 bucks. I'm hoping it's worth it.

Where did you order yours from?  It seems as if some of the Canadian dealers may be adding some misc $$ to perhaps pad their pockets due to U.S. demand for these bags.  For example, one shop told me that I'd have to pay the shipping charges from Honda Canada to the Canadian dealer.  WTF?  When I order a part from my dealer in the states, I don't get charged the shipping from Honda America to my dealer.  And then there's these other fees that U.S. buyers are encountering - extra shipping, border tax, brokerage fees, etc.  I think a lot of buyers may be taken advantage of.
