Well, my saddlebags FINALLY arrived!! �I was out of town on business last week, and my plan was to call Honda and complain when I got back because my bags had been on order for four months. �While I was gone, my dealer had left a message saying to "come in and pick up your bags - they have been here for a month.." This was the first time they had called. �Not off to a great start with my local parts department...
Anyway, they mounted up just fine. �Took about two hours, but I really took my time and got everything fitted just perfect. �No spare parts, either....They must have re-done the instuctions because they were fairly easy to follow. �I did not have to drill the passenger footpegs like they said though, although I did drill the rear fender to fit the collars inside the plastic. �I was worried that the racks would look awful when the bags were detatched, but it does not look bad at all �(helps that both the bike and racks are black). �If I really wanted to remove them I think I could do the whole thing in about 10 mins. �I can send pics of any detail if anyone is interested or entertaining getting them.
They DO have a lot of room, though they are quite wide on the bike. �I'd say they bike is now about 18" wider than before, so careful when lane splitting, but they (combined) have more room than my 22" roll aboard suitcase that I travel with, and I can live out of that for weeks. �I am glad that I got them, but, I honestly have to say that they are a rip-off at $1,000 for the set. �I could see MAYBE $400-$500 or so (WITH mounting hardware!), but not a grand. �If you were to buy the equivelent amount of plastic and detail/workmanship in the form of another recreational product (cooler, tackle box, etc..), you'd balk at more than $50.00 or so. �They are really not that fancy - not even padding or liners on the inside, although they did come with 8 keys for some reason. :shake:
