Givi V35 Rubber "string Thing"

Has anyone had a problem with those little screws that keep the rubber "string" attached to the case? I recently purchased a 6th generation VFR with the V35 side cases and top rack. Those screws popped out on the side cases and now they fall open. I tried to just screw them back in, but the threads are shot. I'm only assuming this is a common problem but I couldn't find any posts.
I am looking for a solution for this problem. Sure there is the supper glue option, but I'm looking for something more permanent. Thank you in advance.

Those tiny screws and their mounting locations are not built robustly enough to hold the weight of the lid, especially if you set something down in it.  (Givi engineering fail).  I simply catch the case when I open it, and use my leg to support it if I need to.  Not a big deal.

maybe if you fill the hole with JB weld and then shove the screw back in?

I'll try the job weld. If that fails I should always have my knee...

mine come off all the time too, i have a rack on my topcase, so probably why it wont support it... if in doubt, a bigger screw.

Oversize self tapping screw.  New threads and larger as well.

I also JB Weld'd it back in - holding fine for now, but much more careful about catching it when it falls open!
