Scanning the testing times for the Valencia tests I didn't see Hayden's name.  Anyone know if he tested today?

I know he's getting the RC213V-RS (or the RC213V Touring edition, as it should be known) and I'd like to see if anything's improving on his end.

No, Eugene Laverty had the sole Aspar racing bike for today.  His times weren't great, but it's his first day (and I believe he was on the 2014 customer bike)

From what I recall hearing, they only have the one 2015 bike that Aoyama was riding sunday, and it's being shared amongst the customer entries (Karel Abraham, Jack Miller, Nicky Hayden and Eugene Laverty)  Abraham was doing okay on it today.

Thanks.  Let's hope the guys on that bike can get into the top ten.  Without a competitive American it'll be hard to build interest in the U.S.

I was reading about the new MotoAmerica series.  Apparently Dorna was behind it to some extent as they were concerned that there aren't enough young Americans capable of entering the Motogp series.

I dont expect much for Nicky in motogp in the future , it seems there has been a wholesale changing of the guard in MotoGP as of late! Obviously Mark Marquez and little brother Alex (who might be sporting a full on GP bike after winning moto3 title), Andrea Iannone seems the only guy willing to really scrap with Mark for more then one lap, imagine if he had a factory bike!

The Espargaro brothers are always doing well on the time sheets, I think the likes of Hayden are on the way out, move out the way Hayden, move out of the way Bradle, move out of the way Hector Barbera, time for some new talent.  I like Crutchlow but he need to put that last season behind him and win some races, Dovi will stick around hes always in the top 10, I hate to say it but Pedrosa came on late in the season once again...too late of course but he did well... I just cant believe Rossi..it will truly be a very sad day when he announces he will retire, he was great this year. Motogp was awesome this year.

Yeah Nicky's days are probably numbered...  I've never been a huge fan, he is a champion due to circumstances, not due to amazing talent.  He's not a bad rider, but compared to the current fast guys (Rossi is working so hard to keep up with them) he's just outclassed, regardless of what bike he's on.

2015 should be fun, lots of new blood, lots of new bikes.  2016 is when the magic will happen, it will either save or destroy MotoGP.

Hayden is on track today.

Iannone is a decent rider but can't maintain his pace. He's also dangerous so though he can keep up for a lap or two, it's hazardous. He's gotten more reckless this season.

Pedrosa has always been my favorite. He's learned to be more aggressive over the past two season. 2011 was frustrating with his inability to pass when needed more often. 2012 showed a change in style but 2013 and 2014 were definitely enhanced. I want him to win just once before retiring but I don't see that happening with all the new kids now.

Rossi has been phenomenal! Took a while to shake off the Ducati cobwebs but he's back. It would be amazing if Marquez won the title three years running but if Rossi won......man, that would be something!

Lorenzo has learned humility and isn't as annoying to listen to during interviews. A great rider of course, but I don't see the character which marks a true, lasting champion. Lorenzo lacks the free spirit and singular focus; he's always angry and is fighting against something internally. It wears on you over time.

Marquez was Marquez. Testing was fun to watch when the brothers were out on track. Marc definitely watched out for Alex and the interview was nice. Alex had a huge smile on his face. I expect to see him moving through Moto2 with style and maybe into GP after one or two years. Would be great to see four brothers on the grid.

Pol has been very exciting to watch. Amazing improvements and successes this year. Big brother is also continuing to do well, but that might change with his move to Suzuki. Curious to see how Crutchlow does on a Honda after seemingly being able to make progress on the Ducati. Smith has also done a fair job and I'm sure will continue to show progress.

New boy Miller is a gamble, but I'm going to make a prediction: He will fail. He's too angry. Too rushed. Too self absorbed. Seems like a mix between Lorenzo and Biaggi with some Gibernau thrown in. Maybe a lot of Gibernau. I won't be surprised if he's fast, but I don't expect him to be likeable. But hey, maybe I'm wrong and he'll take title.

Everyone else.......we'll see.

My dream season next year would be an epic battle between these two, coming down to the last event, Rossi on top coming out of the last corner. :smile2:

Looks like Hayden was testing today and was 2nd (1:43:598), 1 spot above Rossi as he was tied with Redding (1:43:813), but still 13 seconds slower than JL's time yesterday, I think the rain had a lot to do with such a wide gap.

As much as I like Hayden I think it's sad he is our (USA) only representation, not because of his ranking or riding ability, but because he is the ONLY American out there in the Premiere class right now. If he decides to retire, who will take his place? How long will it take for another American to be ready for the premiere class? Yes, I'm being a little patriotic but come on, Spain has the monopoly right now, MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 Champions are all Spanish riders. Seemed like the official music theme of MotoGP was Spain's National Anthem! It was nice to hear Italy's those few times though.

1. IT's testing only

2. The testing days come after a long season with a bunch of tired riders and mechanics

3. They are testing parts so the times mean little.

4. Yup, raining.

Totally understand just putting times in to show Hayden's lap time compared to others for the same day of testing.

Obviously Mark Marquez and little brother Alex (who might be sporting a full on GP bike after winning moto3 title),

Little Marquez is on a Moto2 bike next year.

I still say that Vasquez in Moto3 is the one to watch, but I said that about Marc Marques 3 years ago, so what do i know.

Just Hayden's luck, the Ducati's are smoking fast the year after he leaves them to run a gutless Honda.

#13

I'll root for Hayden over Dani Pendejo any day.

#14

Considering Hayden did 44 laps and Rossi did 13...  It took Hayden 24 laps to get his best, and Rossi 8 :P

Granted, Hayden is on a new bike, but still :P

It would be interesting to see what Hayden could do on the full factory Repsol bike, WITH the seamless shift gearbox.

I don't think he could best Marquez, but if he could at least equal Dani, I'd say he still has it.

Since he has spent so much time on uncompetitive bikes, it's difficult to say if he still has the form from 2006.
#16

I think you're only fooling yourself...  This season Hayden was rarely the fastest customer Honda on the track, he was beaten by the rookie Redding, and quite frequently his teammate on the exact same bike.  Yeah he had wrist issues, but there aren't too many people riding professionally who haven't got some old "war wound", and if he can't ride a customer Honda because of that injury, I can't imagine he would have better results on a faster bike.

But we'll never know, I doubt.

I agree.  And his form from 2006 would get him beat these days, by a ways.  He's only won 3 races in over a decade in GP.  2 were at home, when the GP guys had almost no experience @ Laguna compared to Hayden.  The remaining was at Assen when Rossi broke his wrist and was riding heavily injured.  He's a good rider but not that good.

I think Hayden proved when teamed with Rossi and then Dovi at Ducati that he was not the limiting factor on the bike's race results. He was always within a place or two of his teammate.

I think Nicky still has it to ride a bike without all of the electronics among the top 4-8 in the world. The problem is that GP bikes now employ more electronic technicians than mechanics per team and those days are gone.

After riding the new customer Honda was astonished at the power available and the extra RPM to hold a gear longer in those in-between corners instead of upshifting and losing drive. He remarked that it had so much power that it wanted to wheelie in 5th gear - a good 40-50 hp more than the anchor of a lump he campaigned this year.

He may become a test rider for HRC in a couple of years but I hope he heads over to WSBK to become the first WSBK/MotoGP champion.

That would be cool.

That would be VERY cool. He is a heck of a nice guy and very down to earth. I wish him all the best, but I fear his best years are behind him in terms of getting the best out of a motorcycle. I would love him to prove me wrong.

As an aussie I would love to see Jack Miller do well but lets be honest, he has been rushed in to motogp because without Casey stoner there is less interest in Australia and im sure there is politics behind his spot in the main game. I was ok with Millers antics up until the last race because to make it to the top in any sport your have to have aggression, self belief and some arrogance but his post race antics were just bad sportsmanship. I understand he would be pissed off by missing out on the championship by only 2 points but he didn't loose the title in the last couple of races, he lost it by not using his bloody brain mid season and just calming down and taking 2nd or 3rd place when he could of. Watching him stand on the podium in the last race when our anthem was playing with a sour look on his face was just plain shit. I'm sure he will be fast given time but maybe being towelled by a few of the regulars in motogp will bring him down a peg or 2.

Just checked the latest times from Valencia.

Hayseed was about 1 second off Marqy-Marq's leading pace and 13 km/hr slower through the speed traps. 13th position. Unlucky.

Really not looking so good for the Kentuckered-out Kid. He was faster than his teammate, but then again, Lavatory is coming off a Sooperbike, so it may take him a bit to get used to the new formula. 'gene was -1.3 sec back from Hayseed. Pretty damn good for the first kick at the cat on a GP bike, and Hayseed has what? 9 years?

Hell, Esgargot was 0.2 sec faster on the brand new engine-eating Suckzuki.

The 2016 ruleset, if TC is minimized like Dorna wants (with Honda crying like teenage girls) I could see Hayden moving up the order on whatever bike he is on. I see Rossi and him doing quite well as they are two of the riders left from the era when tc was either absent or minimal. The rest of the guys only know TC.

In other news, an American just won the Spanish national superbike championship... ;)
