I need everyone's opinion. I want to get this soft luggage for my 2001 VFR, VFR has a high mount Staintune pipe. Please let me know what you all think. Here is the link and hopefully a picture of the soft luggage.
My saddle bags have a heat resistant liner on the inside where it could possibly contact the pipe. I could not see a listing for any such liner on that brand.
I have this very set. It worked well on my first VFR because it had the low mount pipe. My latest VFR has a high mount Two Bros on it and I have not yet created an arrangement where it will not touch.
I have been planning on adapting some other hard bags and making my own mounting structure... but haven't got around to it.
I'd offer to sell you my set. They are in good shape, however the mounting has been changed around. I had nylon straping sewn onto the bags and to plastic stap buckles. Then had the other side of the buckles mounted on my under tray and rear footpeg mounts. Installation was just 5 seconds and four snaps. Worked well. My friend duplicated it on his Superhawk too.
I had a 99 VFR with the 2bros high mount (Oval/CF) and they worked perfectly with my Givi rubular rack. I put up quite an extensive write up on a few years ago with specific dimensions and pics but I don't remember what site that was. I still have the tubular rack if you're interested. No charge and you pay for shipping if it's what you're looking for. If you have a round pipe I don't think it'll fit. I just want to make sure they get to someone who can use them.
Check out this link. The system actually can use two soft bags. Only one is shown in the picture. I use this system and can install or remove the rack in about five minutes. The bags slip on and off the rack very quickly.
I have a 98 with Chase Harper ET4000 bags which are way bigger than the set you mentioned. I also have 2 bros CF highmount. I dont even worry about heat with the carbon can. The bags have rested on the exhaust for 900 miles in one day and never burnt through or scratched the canister up.
I would not try this with a stainless highmount. The heat from my brothers stainless 2 Bros is quite hot.
Thanks everyone for all of you help and suggestion. I really like the look to the soft saddlebags. I want to know what other people are using. I have a 2001 VFR with high mount staintune pipe. I know that other people on this site have suggested using Joe Rocket Sport Motorcycle Saddle Bags. Will they work with my exhaust configuration? If so, does anyone want to sell theirs? Thanks....
