I swapped for a Fiamm Mini Disc Road Blaster Horn due to a 125 mph Dragonfly that dusted my OEM horn. Perfect fit and somewhat louder but a tight squeeze to install.

I puchased a pair of these, hoping they would bolt straight in, but alas it was not to be. I am planning to make up a custom bracket to be able to fit them. There is room, but a bracket is needed.
A single Fiamm mini disc is not really much louder than the factory, so a pair are a must.
I have the Fiamm Dual Mini Disc Road Blaster Mini Kit from RiderSafe.com and have the left front fairing off and the front wheel removed.
How in the world do the existing horn wires reach?? How in the world do you get up in there to remove or install anything extra?? :blink:
If anyone who has messed with this kind of setup can sketch something ... even something quick and simple, that be appreciated.
The one VFRd member attached the 2 mini discs to the bolt hole via a custom bracket just behind the brake lines ... that looks like a good place. But, the existing horn wires are so short they won't reach and extend.
Ideas? Sketches? Photos? :thumbsup:'
Edited to add: And, are folks following the install instructions and NOT running new wire back to the battery? According to the install instructions, since the 02/03/04' VFR has a 10a fuse on the existing wire ... the wire taps can be used to wire the 2nd dic horn.
I have just completed an install of these horns...they are better than the original, but still not as loud as I would like. No room for proper horns though so they are the best compromise out there.
I added an extension to the existing bracket, that I could bolt the 2 mini discs to. They will not fit an unmodified bracket unfortunately.
Wiring was easy, just make up 2 short leads with a double spade connector on one end that allows the existing wiring to connect to the right hand horn.
It is fiddlely mounting up under the frame, but uless you remove all the fairing and radiators there is no other way.

OK....I installed mine last week....I'll get pics on here tomorrow. FWIW, I did not have to remove any fairings, and I did not run any new wires back to the battery. If you got the same kit I did, the sent some blue plastic things to splice your existing wire and run off 2 new ones for the other horn.
Your horns should have came with a bracket attached to them. I moved one of the horns over so that both horns were on the same bracket and I bowed it a little so they both set beside each other comfortably. Then I attached that bracket to the existing horn bracket and used a twist tie to secure it to a hose clamp so it didn't shake around.

I have the same exact horns. To me, thier MUCH louder then stock, but thats because I ran new wiring directly from the battery for them. For me, it was necessary. Althought the horn circuit is a 10A fuse, it is not the only component attached to that circuit. I know both the front turn signal High circuits are also attached to that circuit. I wasn't too woried about it, but the fuse did eventually blow. So I went down to the local car store and picked up one of those auxilary light wiring kits and used that.
As far as mounting, I positioned one horn and bracket so that it was in the original position as the stocker. The 2nd horn I attached to the first horn. I dont have any pictures (maybe this weekend I can take some), but its kinda like this:
Original mounting point -> Horn1 Bracket -> Horn1 -> Horn2 Bracket -> Horn2
----H1----H2
Since the original horn bracket was pointing down at a angle, I pointed the other horn bracket directly to the right (looking from the front of the bike). The 2nd horn bracket also needed to be bent a bit kinda like this ( _/� ), so that it would clear horn1. It clears everything and no worries of any wires getting too close to the engine.
Then, I just used wire taps from horn1 to power horn2.
The wiring was fairly simple. The original horn wiring was lengthened to run to the new dedicated horn relay, and wiring from the battery to the horns was laid. Not the cleanest of jobs I did (I was in a rush with it, so I'm gonna do it over), but it works fine and the horns are MUCH louder running directly from the battery then using the stock wires. Definetly gets attention now. :thumbsup:

Redsars -- just have the pic on your hard drive ... and click the IMG button when you are replying ... then choose the file via the browse button. That should do it.
What kind of bracket did you create?

I mounted my single low-tone Fiamm Snail type horn (LOUD!) on the left side upper radiator mount, behind the fairing on my bike It's a good option for relocating your horn on 97 and earlier VFRs with the conventional radiator location. It gets the horn away from road crap, rain and insects. It also let me lower my front end without causing clearance problems when the front shocks bottom out on big bumps The horn got slapped a few times by my front fender when I had it mounted on the original bracket between the fork legs. A similar approach could be possible with later VFRs with the side mounted radiators. Any upper radiator mounting point with enough room around it should work and be strong enough to support any horn unit.

This is a key point. On my '90 VFR, I installed one extra horn (left the standard one on) BUT wired both horns through a relay with new wiring to the battery. The standard wiring is too thin, and robs too many ergs. Then revised horn setup was HEAPS louder than stock; at close range it was "OWW!! Don't ever to that again, Dad!!" loud, and brilliant for 'punishing' errant drivers. :lol:
I mounted the new horn on a bracket under the left side of the radiator, under the left mid fairing panel. When I relocated the new R/R to where the horn normally goes, I shifted the OEM horn to under the right mid fairing panel.
This all reminds me - must do something about the pathetic horn on the current VFR...
Here's the first one showing an up close and personal of the horns. I used the original bracket to attatch one of the brackets that came with the hornes. I bowed the plate a little so I could set both horns side by side. I did not have to remove anything (fairings, radiator..blah blah) to put the horns in. Hope this helps.

Man, you guys go me excited to put a new horn on my sixth gen as that stocker is about useless....
Just so you know, I called RideSafer and ordered the dual mini disc with relay, and the guy threw in the relay wiring kit for free, then he even dropped the shipping charge by $2. Might be worth calling them instead of ordering over the net if you live anywhere near Cleveland...their home base.
I'll try to put some pics up after the install next week.
Just finished the install today. A bit of a pain in the a$$, but not bad.
Overall, I'd recommend the dual minis. They don't wake the dead, but my wife and neighbors swear they're louder than stock. They definitely have a bit more bite to them, but don't expect 18 wheeler air horns.
I took before and after mpegs to show you the sound difference, and as soon as I learn how to post them, I'll put them up for you. Any advice?
I removed the stock bracket completely and made my own custom pcs from the brackets supplied with the kit.
Each horn mounts to one of the stock locations, using the stock bolts. Space was a little tight. I removed the left fairing and loosened the radiator to get more access room. The following pic is looking up from behind the front wheel.
I had to make some last custom bends after the horns were mounted to keep the vibrating part from touching the radiator hose. Overall, I'm pleased. I also wired mine directly to the battery and added a relay. The wires from the stock horn simply pug right into the relay with no mods necessary.
