VTEC Brake Pad Shims?

Question on replacing brake pads on a VTEC----

the original OEM pads have a anti squel shim on only one side (the non piston side). The EBC HH pads i'm about to install have shims on both pads. I'm assuming I take the shim off the new replacement pad that goes on the non piston side? stupid question but its not addressed anywhere else......

Take it off, I found that with both on, the pads would not fit.

The backing plates are for heat dissipation. I recently changed the pads on my rear caliper. Boths OEM pads had the heat sink device as did the EBC replacements. They fit and work perfectly.

Thanks. The EBC pads fit perfectly with the shims installed, front and rear. I thought it was odd that the rear brakes had shims on both OEM pads, but the front OEM's only had shims on the side opposite the brake piston.

I installed EBC pads on mine and the front and the back pads were identical with the heat shield.
