Ok, I just did an idiot move and ordered a service manual off Ebay. The idiot part is that is says "replica" in the description, and I didn't catch it.
What I got is a pretty nice, bound, covered, reproduced version. It looks pretty good, but the pictures and black and white, and a bit blurry.
What I need to know is if the original has color pictures, and how clear the pictures are.
I got this manual for $30, and I'm trying to figure out if the authentic manual is worth the extra money, plus having to send this one back.

Isn't it illegal to sell reproduced literature??? :unsure: That bites! I am not an attorney, but seems like that would be copyright infringement. :o
Sure seems like it to me. But, that's what I get for not reading closely.
The official manual has B&W illustrations, but they are very clear. I had one of these "replica" manuals for my SV650S, so I know what you mean when you say the pictures are blurry. The pictures in the SV manual were worthless...You couldn't make out any detail. Yours are probably the same way.
The official manual is definitely worth the money. I may be able to help you out though. I've decided to unload the VTEC and get a Monster S2R. I was going to pull the trigger on the deal tomorrow, but I just found out I need to go home to attend a funeral. Anyway, when I get back and conclude the deal, I'll have an official VTEC service manual plus a box of spare parts I'll need to unload. I had planned to donate all that stuff to Miguel so he could auction it or whatever, but if you want the manual, we can work a deal for you to "buy" it from me by making a donation to the site.
If you're interested let me know. I probably won't be able to get back to you until early next week, so don't freak out if you don't hear from me right away.
