Is this harmless jerkingness at low rpms, that makes the bike feel like is running out of gas. Or is this a potentialy lethal problem where the bike sudenly accelerates on it's own uncontrolably for a period of time or untill you crash. Anyone here hurt as a result of surging.

thanks
the low rpm stuff is just the in-preciseness of fuel injection. the surging everyone is talking about is really the changing of fueling when the o2 sensors take readings and make adjustements. this happens at higher rpms. i dont believe anyone has ever been hurt by the surge. it did hurt my feelings....but thats about all. o2 eliminators made me happy again

The low RPM (i.e. "parking lot speed") jerkiness is common to FI, in general. There is "idle" (throttle closed) and 1%+. Compounding the problem, there's usually some play in the throttle before it starts pulling the cable (do a SEARCH to adjust that out).
As you develop a more delicate touch, you can do those low-speed drills with great smoothness. Additionally, dragging the rear brake (well, as much as LBS allows) whilst modulating throttle and moving in and out of the friction point on the clutch (yes, you must use three appendages simultaneously!) makes low-speed manuevers like buttah!
